Sarah Jessica Parker Gets Bitten

Sarah Jessica Parker is the latest celeb to churn out her own fashion line, called Bitten. And it’s really no surprise since her character on Sex and the City was such a style icon, even though she’s confessed that she personally needed a lot of help in the wardrobe department. SJP also prides herself on the fact that Bitten is affordable; none of the pieces cost more than $20, and most of them range from $9 to $12. I love the tag line, “Fashion is not a luxury; it’s a right” but I’m not exactly head over heels with the rest of the looks. Check them out for yourself:
A few of these pieces are cute; I like the first and second to last outfits, but everything else is so….blah. I mean, sweat pants? Plain gray, drab sweat pants?? And with a vest? If there were such a thing as the fashion police, whoever thought this was a good idea should be arrested for crimes against humanity (and I don’t blame SJP because she just puts her name on it all). And even worse than that HAS to be the camoflouge pants with the oversized mens t shirt. That outfit makes absolutely no sense and totally makes the whole collection look like a joke.
I think one of the biggest problem with this collection is that it has absolutely no direction. It’s everywhere, and there’s nothing that ties the pieces back to each other. Even the name, Bitten, doesn’t is ill fitting and makes it sound like some gothic, vampiric type of costume line.
Ultimately I think Sarah would have been better of tripling her her retail price (that’s STILL affordable, after all) and hiring better designers to create pieces that weren’t heinously ugly. No, fashion doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg but quality should come before quantity. This is even worse than Mary Kate & Ashley’s line, The Row.
The line debuts June 7th at Steve &Berry’s in New York. Keep this stuff contained on the East Coast, ok? Thanks. Check out the website here.
