Jordin’s Album Flopped

Okay, it’s a bit soon to all it a flop, but it surely isn’t a good start. To make a long story short, here’s what the top AI debut album chart looks like:
613,000 - Clay Aiken
417,000 - Ruben
315,000 - Carrie
304,000 - Chris
298,000 - Taylor
297,000 - Kelly
240,000 - Fantasia
119,000 - Jordin (#10)
115,000 - Katharine
The only one I left out is Bo because I can’t find his numbers. But anyways, Jordin’s is the second winner not to debut in the top 10 (Fantasia was #8) and she also has the lowest 1st week sales of any winner. With a “hit” song on the radio (and it still cracks me up that anyone would buy “Tattoo”) I expected her to do around 150k, but still no one should be surprised by her lackluster sales. I think her duet with Chris Brown could give her album a bit more steam but ultimately Jordin just isn’t a star.

Now in more interesting news, Barnes & Noble has a few clips up of Blake’s album, so check ‘em out here. He probably won’t sell jack next week either but at least the album is him.
And yes I know the layout is a mess. Sorry!!!

Gotta love Blake, but his art cover gives me the creeps. It’ll look even creepier on my iPod touch screen.

It’s sad and a little unfair to diss Jordin’s album due to the relatively low sales numbers. Have you actually done a review of the MUSIC and the quality of her performance on it (maybe you have, & I missed it)? It’s a little too easy to write her off - she is not getting the record company hype (like Blake), and last time we saw her, she was a 17-year-old high school student, a little out of her element on national TV. I wouldn’t say “Jordan just isn’t a star.” I’d say, “Jordin is young.” It’s not like her career has tanked or something - she’s just getting started, and she will need some help & hype even if the album is great. If she completely disappears within the next 2 years, it would surprise no one, but it wouldn’t be because she’s not talented enough to make it.

Lol, her age isnt an excuse. Beyonce, Rihanna, Christina, Britney, all these girls came out at 17 and showed their STAR quality. It’s funny how people were raving over Jordin because of her age just a few months ago, and now they’re using it as a scapegoat.
And Blake isnt getting any more hype then she is, and I highly doubt his numbers will surpass hers.
You don’t have to agree that Jordin “isn’t a star” but I believe it 110%.
