Books That Will Be Movies

Cameron Diaz is slated to star in the latest hit novel turned movie; this time it’s Jodi Picoult’s My Sister’s Keeper. From what I’ve heard, just about everyone who’s read this book says the ending is pretty depressing. The book/movie is about a 13 year old girl who was concieved for the sole purpose of donating blood/organs to her older sickly sister. The story follows the sister as she tries to legally emancipate herself and the effects it has on her family. I would totally read this if I didn’t already know the ending.

Cameron will play the mother of both girls. The movie is set to start filming early next year and it will be directed by Nick Cassavetes who also directed The Notebook. Here’s a couple other book-to-movie projects I have my eye on:

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, starring Rachel Weisz, Ryan Gosling and Susan Surandon. Production is set to start later this year with Peter Jackson at the helm.

The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffennegger, starring Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana. I’m staring at the book right now wondering when I’ll ever finish it. Casting is perfect though, if you ask me.

Nights In Rodanthe by Nicholas Sparks, starring Diane Lane, Richard Gere and James Franco. Not too familiar with this novel but authors work always translates well on screen. This one is set to release in June of next year.

They’re turning Bell Jar into a movie.. and Atonement is coming out soon with Kiera Knightly and James McAvoy… Atonement looks REALLY good. I might actually read the book.

Oh and Winged Creatures sounds promising too.

The Bell Jar is an old book, I had to read it in High School. Julia Stiles is going to direct or produce it, one of those.. I can’t remember.
