Happy Saint Patrick’s Day: Jonathan Rhys Meyers Gets Drunk, Then Sued

There couldn’t be a more perfect day for this story to break, it being St. Patrick’s Day and all. Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers who has previously battled alcoholism, drank too much before trying to board a flight, and is now getting sued for assaulting a woman who works at the airport.  Jonathan, who has already been to rehab on countless occasions, is being sued by Kathryn Williams, United Airlines customer service director.

According to Kathryn, the actor was downing vodka after vodka and was acting “outrageously and shockingly”. She is seeking damages of up to $15,000, and says that the incident has caused her to have trouble at work. A snippet from the lawsuit filed against Jonathan reads as follows:

“On May 7, 2010, at approximately 6.00am the defendant committed tortuous acts consisting of verbally and physically abusing plaintiff causing her to sustain physical injuries and severe emotional distress. Defendant Jonathan Rhys Meyers wilfully, maliciously, wantonly and without any just cause or provocation assaulted and battered plaintiff Kathryn Williams.”

It appears Jonathan was acting out after he was stopped from boarding a flight at JFK airport for being too drunk – classy. Back to rehab then?
