Cynthia Nixon Honored by Gay Organisation, GLAAD
Posted by Pamela on March 14th, 2010Cynthia Nixon received an award at a gala in New York City last night, which was held by GLAAD, a gay organization. The Sex and the City star received the award for her work highlighting gay marriage rights. Cynthia was not the only celebrity who picked up an award from the organization. The hit TV series, Brothers and Sisters also received recognition for highlighting gay rights, when the series featured a story about a gay couple trying to adopt a child.
Sigourney Weaver also picked up an award on the night for her work in Prayers for Bobby, a mini-series on Lifetime. Prayers for Bobby dealt with a mother (Sigourney) who struggles to accept that her son is gay. The Oprah Winfrey Show also won an award for Best Talk Show Episode, for the episode called “Ellen DeGeneres and Her Wife, Portia de Rossi.”
