Its Official: Jail Time for Paris Posted by Kim on 04 May 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yup, that's right, Paris Hilton has officially been sentenced to 45 days in jail! Her days of living above the law and not being responsible for her actions are officially over. Just a few hours ago Paris sat in front of the judge as she was sentenced to 45 days in jail, after driving with a license that was suspended from a prior DUI. Witnesses inside the coutroom say that the only excuse Paris could come up with was that her rep Elliott Mintz led her to believe her license was valid. When the verdict was read, neither her or her parents were very happy (obviously!). Paris reportedly cried, pleading "I'm sorry, I'm sorry." and the her mother, Kathy Hilton marched up to the judge saying, "I want your autograph. This is pathetic. I can't believe all the money we spent on this." Well, no wonder Paris thinks money can solve everything. So, what will prison life be like for Paris? Honestly, I think she'll be just fine. If Martha Stewart can survive, so can she...I guess. And I'm sure she'll come out with a lucrative book deal and probably even a movie deal. Her sentence starts on June 5th and she'll be serving 45 days at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California (which is just minutes away from Compton). Keira Talks Body Image Posted by Kim on 03 May 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In the new issue of Elle Magazine, Keira Knightley has a lot to say about her weight. She's been snapped on a few occasions baring her concave chest and looking thinner than she usually does, which of course sparked speculation of eating disorders. In the article she explains that she lost weight while filming Pirates of the Carribean, mainly because they were filming in "soaring heat" and she's wearing heavy corsets and what not....makes sense. On trying to gain weight, she says: I took it very seriously. I went to the doctor to be checked out and asked him what I could do to put on weight. he told me that for someone my body type to get to a size 12 (which is about an 8 in the US), I would have to eat a lot of s*** food, stop exercising and drink loads. About going to parties: At parties, I stand on my own, grinning aimlessly. I can never thin of a thing to say. I wish I was Sienna Miller. I watch that girl and she' just fabulous. She talks to everyone and laughs and smiles and looks as if she is genuinely enjoying herself. Please don't wish for that, Keira. And on fame in general: The celebrity thing is completely crazy. I think I just have to move away or give it up altogether. I couldn't have kids in the situation I'm in now. But I could just do something else. That's probably what's going to happen. I'm just not so hungry any more. I made a decision very recently that I wanted a life instead. She also mentions that she does NOT like being "thinspiration" on pro-anorexia websites, and that ideally she'd rather have a curvy shape like Monica Bellucci. The show has been canceled, and the finale of the show will air on May 15. The statement from the network said, "Announcing the final season of 'Gilmore Girls' is truly a sad moment for everyone at The CW and Warner Bros. Television," statement read. "This series helped define a network and created a fantastic, storybook world featuring some of television's most memorable, lovable characters." David Rosenthal took over after the show's creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino left after the sixth season. Personally, I can't say I'm surprised. The show hasn't been as good the past two seasons. I'm bummed the show is over, because it is an addiction of mine, but I'll just continue watching the DVD's when I need a fix.

Breaking News: Britney Chews Gum During Performance Posted by Kim on 03 May 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night two of Britney Spears' "comeback tour". This time fans had to wait two hours for the 12 minute lip synching fest, a bit shorter than Tuesday nights 16 minutes (not 20, sorry!). But despite the shorter set the fans at the House of Blues in Anaheim were in for an extra special treat....they got to see Britney and her gum fetish in it's full glory as she actually chewed DURING the entire performance. Excuse me while I bang my head against a desk. Could she at least, like, TRY? I can't help but wonder how many refunds were requested... Source

The LA City Attorney has filed papers asking the court to sentence the heiress to 45 days in jail after driving with a suspended license (and the license was suspended because of a DUI, in case you forgot). The legal papers also want Paris to stay away from alcohol for 90 days, which might be even harder for her than going to prison! Paris is supposed to show up in court tomorrow and hopefully the judge doesn't wimp out and let her go just because of her famous name. For the sake of all humanity, LOCK HER UP. Source

Lindsay Lohan honestly believes the only reason she doesn't have an Academy Award is because of the paparazzi. Yup, she blames photogs for her career not progressing and for being typecast as a party girl who doesn't do anything except go to clubs and get drunk. So I'm guessing they went to her house and forced her at gunpoint to go out every single night. Here's her exact quote: "The thing about the press and why they need to leave me the [bleep] alone for a little bit is because I don't want that distraction from my work. I want to get a nomination. A Belated Heroes Post Posted by Kim on 02 May 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know I RARELY talk about Heroes (Lost is more than enough for me to keep up with) but I have to say something about the most mind blowingly AWESOME episode they've ever had. And that says a lot! Initially I thought the whole idea of them going into the future and showing us what will happen if they fail was a pretty lame idea. So maybe it was just a way for the writers to stretch out the storyline but they totally made it work. The future is pretty gloomy...."Nathan" is the President bent genocide, Surresh is working with him, Matt is Homeland Security, Hiro is a terrorist and worst of all Peter is dating Nikki/Jessica (sorry, that pairing just doesn't make any sense to me). Um, am I allowed to gush just a little bit? Personally, I never really thought Peter was all that attractive before (he's a bit too petite for my taste)....but man oh man, what a little bit of stubble and some slicked back hair can do! But was the Matrix/Neo-esque wardrobe really necessary? Best part of the episode; the twist that I totally didn't see coming. I'm sitting around the whole time wondering WHY Nathan has pretty much gone crazy and wants to exterminate everyone like him. Oh, it turns out that's not Nathan at all, but Sylar using his newly acquired shape shifter powers. I'm still REALLY mad that he had to go and kill the painter. Seriously, that dude was awesome; too bad they didn't use him more. I've also heard that Peter and Nathan's mother has a power and apparently it's similar to what one of the other heroes can do, but she can get from Point A to Point B a lot faster. Teleportation, maybe? Oh, and Claire looked cute as a brunette! Three more episodes to go! Love. this. show. Picture Source

Basically, Brit came out, sang a bunch of her old songs like Do Somethin', Toxic, Baby and Breath On Me, and then just left. The clubgoers said the performance only lasted about 20 minutes and she didn't even preview her new songs. Wow. Sounds so not exciting. American Idol 6 - Top 6 Rock Week Posted by Kim & Tiff on 01 May 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After last week's charity event, 'Idol Gives Back,' where nearly seventy million dollars were raised, the sixth place finisher was not eliminated. So, going into this week, the top six performed again, and tomorrow night the two lowest scorers will face elimination instead of one. Scandalous contestant Antonella Barba, and also Gina Glockson were in the audience. This week's theme is songs by Bon Jovi, and he served as the mentor. Tiff:First tonight was Phil with "Blaze of Glory." I think Phil's voice has come a long way since his initial audition. Also, this song was probably a really good one for his voice. I thought the first few notes were a bit iffy, but it got better, especially toward the end. He seems like he's a lot more comfortable on the stage now than he used to be, and he does well with the bigger, longer notes. Randy thought other than country week, this is his best performance on the show. Paula thought it was the best opening to the show they've had all season long. Simon wasn't even that mean, but he didn't think Phil would be around next week. Kim: I don't think this was one of his top two performances, but it was definitely one of his best. But why is he first when he's NEVER been last, and Melinda has been three times? Wow, talk about blatant favoritism... Tiff: Second was Jordin singing "Livin' On A Prayer." I'm actually not surprised she chose this song. She has a big voice, and depending on how this song is done, it can work really well with her style. I really so far prefer Lukas Rossi's cover from 'Rockstar: Supernova,' but the more traditional arrangement (as Jordin did it) is good too. Vocally, I thought this was weaker than some of her other performances, but it wasn't horrible but I didn't like it like others she's done. She looked cute, and I loved her hair. The judges weren't big fans of her performance, but they credited her effort to a degree. She was really honest that she struggled with the song, specifically the verses, and that rock isn't her thing. I liked that. Kim: I like the slowed down version of Livin on A Prayer, but the original was one hot track! It wasn't Jordin's best vocal but it sure was entertaining! The Queen DVD Review Posted by Tiff on 29 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I first saw previews for 'The Queen,' I was intrigued. Never would I have considered a movie about the British monarchy following the death of Princess Diana. However, someone did. The movie is set in the U.K., and follows the stories of the Queen, Prince Charles, and newly elected [at the time] Prime Minister Tony Blair. The movie provides a unique insight into royal life and protocol which media cameras don't allow. Truly captivating is the performance of Academy Award Winner Best Actress Helen Mirren. Her acting allows you to believe she truly is the Queen. She manages the coldness of protocol all the while bringing human emotion and realness to the role, a realness few believe exists. She certainly stands out among the other actors and steals the show. It is a story of tragedy we all know well, and the decisions that shaped the legacy of a monarchy. I'd say it's definitely worth renting. It's slow in some parts, and seems a bit unfinished in others, but Mirren's acting makes up for it. Rating: Three and a half of five stars. Mirren's acting: Four out of five stars.

She made the top 10, but was kicked off not long after? After her run on 'Idol' she had problems with a stalker and talked to several magazines about how she'd feared for her life. Now, the 21 year old has been arrested. Sierra was arrested for felony battery with a deadly weapon after she hit a man with a glass, and, she was charged with possession of cocaine and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility. She supposedly had a small amount of the drug on her when she was searched. It seems like 'Idol' really doesn't help some people.... I didn't know a glass could be considered a deadly weapon, but that does make sense. Oh, and the man is okay, he had a cut over his eye. I wonder what he said to cause the attack? Idol Gives Back Lackluster Ratings Posted by Kim on 27 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The people behind Idol were hoping for ground breaking, finale rivaling ratings for the Idol Gives Back results show this week. Some were predicting ratings as high as 60 million. What they got was a whopping......26 million viewers. Ouch. That's 2 million less than last years results show, meaning the "very special episode" didn't attract anything other than regular viewers, minus Sanjaya fans, of course. On top of that the performance show did even worse, drawing only 25 million viewers, making it the lowest rated performance show of the season and lower than the ratings of ANY show from Season 5. What, a celebrity writing their own tell all book? It's odd, and it's backwards I know, but so is Britney. In the book she reportedly dishes about her Mom, Justin Timberlake, Kevin Federline and other close friends and family. A "source", as always, says Justin might be the one who takes it the hardest "Britney blames most of her problems with drugs and alcohol on the heartache she experienced years before, during her time with Justin - she couldn't trust him. She also felt he became mean toward the end of their relationship, she said he called her fat and told her she'd need to lose weight before he would have sex with her", the source says. On KFed, the source says, "His womanizing, his wild spending, the verbal abuse he hurled at her when he thought their marriage was coming to an end. Brit will say he deliberately tried to drive her crazy. She feels Kevin just pretended to love her for the money and a music career. Sanjaya's Mom's Pot Arrest Posted by Tiff on 26 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kim mentioned 'Idol' contestant Sanjaya's mom's arrest for pot yesterday. Today, TMZ and the National Enquirer are giving more details. Apparently, she (Jillian Blith) was busted for at least 310 plants. Shyamali, also known as sister of Sanjaya was arrested for possession as well, and told cops where to find a second growing facility...where her mother and step-father were arrested in February 2005. Shyamali was only 17 at the time of the arrest. The mother somehow only received a very light 30 day jail sentence. That's definitely a bizarre type of 'Idol' story. Source Opinion: I get that pot is great for cancer patients and to treat illnesses. I have no problem with that, medical reasons. But when you're a mom and you get arrested and your 17 year old kid gets arrested because you're growing it in your garage, I think that's pretty bad. I also don't think they were growing it for cancer patients. Though somehow I get the feeling this makes some people like Sanjaya even more, and that's pathetic.

Wonder why she's eating alone? Don't ever turn your back on Lindsay Lohan, she might steal all your stuff! That's what happened to Lindsay's ex friend, model Lauren Hastings. The story goes as follows. A couple weeks ago, when Lauren was in Texas for a photoshoot Lindsay went to her house and told her house sitter that she left a few clothes over. The house sitter, probably being all starstruck and what not, foolishly let her in. Lindsay made off with some clothes alright....$10,000 worth of designer stuff that didn't even belong to her. Yup, she stole her friends clothes but it's "okay" because Lauren was given the stuff from modeling shoots and they weren't really hers. Ridiculous. To add fuel to the fire, Lindsay and Nicole Richie thought it would be funny to send a bunch of rude text messages to their ex pal calling her fat and what not (and, well, everyone is fat compared to Nicole). Isn't this the same girl who was crying over a bag of stolen jewelry at the airport about a year ago? For some reason I don't think Lindsay would appreciate someone coming to HER house and taking all the Balenciaga's and designer handbags she hoardes up on! American Idol 6 - Idol Gives Back! Posted by Kim & Tiff on 25 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the first time in the six years 'American Idol' has decided to give back. In an unprecedented charity event, stars of all calibers and 'Idol' contestants come together to raise money for causes that need desperate attention, with 'Idol Gives Back.' At the beginning of the show, Ryan promised tonight's result would be the most shocking in the history of the show. Over 70 million people voted, not only to keep their favorite on the show, but also to raise money for great causes. Ellen DeGeneres is helping host the event from the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the guest performers/concert part of the event. Tiff: The first up tonight was Earth, Wind, and Fire... and yeah, I don't know why they got to be on the show either. Really, no idea. I guess some people care. They did a medley of all kinds of their songs, most of which, I honestly had no idea were theirs. Anyway, moving on. Kim: Didn't you think it was funny that EVERYONE else sang songs appropriate to the occasion and they just did a funk medley? Yeah, anyways, moving on... Tiff: We saw video of Randy and time he spent with Katrina survivors in New Orleans, one of the causes this show is supporting. It really is hard to believe that two years after the disaster, people are still having to live in conditions like so many are - really, this is America. Is it not the land of opportunity? Or at least isn't that what we're told? Why isn't something being done? Kim: I was surprised to see people still living in those towns. But they probably lost SO much and perhaps didn't have much to start, that even with the government aid I assume, and hope, they're getting, it just isn't enough. Tiff: The top six contestants sang "Time to Care" written by Quincy Jones. Celebrities like Eric McCormick pled for people to call in and donate, joking about all those who voted for Sanjaya, and how much money could be raised if they would call in to donate. We also got a glimpse of Sanjaya and his sister in the audience. We saw more stories from Ryan and Simon's trip to Africa which was really sweet and heartbreaking. Maybe she should've gotten the cover of People! As most of us know, she's got a new album coming out soon. It seems that she was really at odds with her record label about not only the angsty first single, but also most of the tracks on the CD. Here's what she told EW.com about the process: You definitely have some things to say in the first single. I heard you use the word ''bitter'' in describing the tone of the song. [The album is] a story, though. None of the other songs on the album are just like that. Everything on the album is pretty different. There's ''Sober,'' which is one of my favorites, and it's a more inspirational kind of thing — sad but inspiring. And then there are other songs, like ''Yeah,'' which are more like Chaka Khan/Prince — kind of a fun party atmosphere. I heard you tell someone here a little bit earlier that your record company might have preferred another single going out first, something that was a little bit safer. Oh, no. They just didn't prefer the album, really, at all. They don't like me writing a whole lot, just to be honest with you. Not even after I've written No. 1 [songs]. So, yeah, they're not big into that. But they're coming around, and they like it now, and obviously it's doing well on radio right now, so they're liking it even more. And taking credit! So you had people trying to force songs or songwriters on you on this album. Yeah, and I understand what they're saying, because everything — sometimes — with labels is a formula. And they're trying to make money, so they want to come out with Breakaway II. And I don't want to come out with Breakaway II, because I already have that record. It's a little hard for them sometimes to come around, just because taking a different artistic path is a chance. And I get it — they're obviously a record label trying to make money. But now people at the label are really starting to dig it, and it just kind of took a while for them. They didn't like Breakaway either, and they didn't like Thankful either. So it's the same for every record. But it's turning around; they like it now. This new song of yours, ''Never Again,'' almost has a little bit of Evanescence quality to it. What, this song? I don't think this song has anything like that. I would say more of a Pat Benatar feel. Kelly is right...I don't know what the interviewer was smoking when they asked this. Rosie, Out! Despite the spike in ratings after the loud mouthed comic joined panel, ABC was "unable to agree on a contract" with her. In other words, she was probably just straight out fired and they're trying to be nice about it. Rosie has simply said "my needs for the future just didn't dovetail with what ABC was able to offer me. This has been an amazing experience, and one I wouldn't have traded for the world." Although I've found some of her outrageous comments to be pretty entertaining, it's probably best that someone like this not be on the air, especially after her absurd accusations about President Bush and 9/11. American Idol 6 - Top 6 Posted by Kim & Tiff on 24 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For the first time in 'Idol' history, the theme this week was songs that give hope and inspiration. The remaining top six of season six once again sang to compete for the spot as the next 'American Idol' as the first part of the huge charity event, 'Idol Gives Back' which will continue tomorrow night. And tonight you have FOUR hours to vote, instead of the usual two. Before the singing tonight, we saw some very touching footage of the trip Ryan and Simon in Africa. Simon seemed to show his softer side, as did Ryan, as they met with those who live in Africa, many of whom suffer and die from AIDS and Malaria. Tiff: First up tonight was Chris Richardson with "Change the World." Granted, I've never been a fan of this song, and I don't know that I would have considered it an inspirational song, he did okay with it. He definitely has a higher vocal range than most guys, and he reminds me a lot of the lead singer of Rascal Flatts. Not my favorite from him, but pretty good. I probably would have liked it more had I liked the song to begin with... He also didn't stay glued to the stool and moved around, making it a little more entertaining. The judges loved him, even Simon. Kim: I always liked this song because it was from that movie Phenomenon with John Travolta that I used to love. I never expected to hear it song on Idol though! And I agree; I don't think it's an inspirational song, but whatever. I think this was one of Chris' best performances. He seemed to take strides to sing correctly for the first time, so props to him for that. Tiff: Second was Melinda Doolittle with "There Will Come A Day." I think this is a really pretty song, and it's a good choice for Melinda because of her big voice. But, I wasn't a big fan of the excess of vibrato in the very beginning of the performance. She did give the song a more gospel feel than Faith Hill, in my opinion, which the song desperately needed. I think she might should have moved around a little, and it would have been great. I wonder though, if singing a religious song will get her booted. Not likely considering her success so far, but it hasn't worked out well for past contestants like Mandisa. The judges loved her too. Simon noted he liked the second half even better than the first, as did I. Kim: As soon as I heard Melinda would be singing this I made a point to check it out on youtube. Honestly I think Melinda's version knocked Faith Hill's out of the water, and the arrangement might have had something to do with that. I mean, this was seriously a fantastic performance; one of her best. And she has nothing to worry about tomorrow. Chris Sligh and Nadia Turner did fine with religious songs in the past; actually I was hoping someone would get REALLY religious up there on stage; not just the mainstream/watered down type (not that I'm complaining!). However, even in the darkest tragedy, there can be hope. My local news has been playing a song called "Forever Changed, (We're All Hokies Today") that was written by a local band called The Seasons. I checked them out, and wouldn't you know they have an 'American Idol' connection? That's right. The lead singer, Kurtis Parks was on season four, and made it to Hollywood before his group bombed their words on group day. Anyway, the song is incredible, and can be downloaded at the band's myspace. The Search for the Next Doll Posted by Kim on 22 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I finally got to catch up on most of the episodes from The Serch for the Next Doll this weekend. You know, the show on the CW where they're trying to find a seventh or eight member for the Pussycat Dolls, whatever number they're up t now. It's a pretty entertaining show that I totally would have watched while it was airing but I'm always busy blogging for YOU guys after American Idol; sheesh! (kidding, of course!) Here are my thoughts on the contestants left: Asia Eh. I'm kinda surprised that she made it so far. She is a dynamic performer, I'll give her that. But her voice is just....bad. Her voice just sounds unnatural and forced; the vocal coach even tried to tell her this but she took it as an insult! On top of that she's a whiny diva and she does this weird thing with her hands when she sings and it's really distracting. Chelsea I like this girl. She's super cute and she could sing ANYTHING. But unfortunately she can't dance, and you HAVE to be able to do both to be a PCD. She also looks a lot like Nicole when her hair is back, which is probably another strike against her. Melissa R. Another good one. Her voice isn't amazing but she's a great dancer and performer; her solo on the last episode was the best of the bunch! But there's just something about her that doesn't stand out....which could work in her favor. She's very blendable, where someone like Chelsea, her voice might rival Nicole's, and you can't have that! Melissa S. I was SO happy to see this bimbo get the boot! Sure, I knew it was coming because they kept showing the commercials with the final 3, but it was still sweet! She was so jealous and catty when it came to Chelsea. I'm sure editing had something to do with it, but still. I mean, you can't blame her for hating on someone who had more talent then she could ever DREAM of having! So far, she's lost on Making The Band, American Idol and PCD. Someone better get a new singing show on the air for her asap! So there you have it! It's going to come down to Asia and Melissa R. in the end (I'd be shocked if Chelsea is still in the mix) and honestly I have NO clue who they're going to choose! We'll find out Tuesday night!

Did Sanjaya REALLY Get the Boot? Posted by Kim on 21 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just about every week there's a very reliable source who posts spoilers and vote totals for American Idol (as well as other shows), and I'd say he's about 98% right. This week he posted a very different vote ranking than what we saw on tv: 1. Melinda 2. Jordin 3. Blake 4. Chris 5. Sanjaya 6. Phil 7. Lakisha All this week I wondered if they'd actually let Sanjaya make it to the Idol Gives Back show. The idea that they purposely cut him this week wouldn't surprise me at all. I mean, come on, he was only in the bottom 3 once weeks ago (and even that was rigged), there's no way he would just magically fall to the bottom. And this rank is closer to what I would have predicted it to actually be. Sucks that we're stuck with Lakisha for another week when she could've been gone. Ugh... ETA: For anyone who's wondering how they can tamper with the vote totals check out the disclaimer at the very end of the show...it clearly says the producers reserve the right to throw out the votes if they want to (and frankly you can't blame them). On top of that AI is NOT classified as a game show , there for they can't be investigated or persecuted the same way, say, Deal or No Deal or Jeopardy could. Not saying you NEED to believe this list...just don't be naive and take everything with a grain of salt. That includes the the show. ETA2: Since this story is starting to get some press, I just want everyone to know why I trust this source. He correctly spoiled the entire top 24 weeks prior to the Green Mile. He also spoiled the song choices correctly for weeks, as well as a few of the eliminations. He's also correctly spoiled Canadian Idol for at least a couple seasons. To tell the truth, I've never actually seen him post anything that's incorrect. From what I've observed, it seems that she's always been close with her mother and her siblings but now it sounds as if she's really succeeded in pushing them away. Below is the email her father Jamie Lynn wrote to Pagesix (talk about drastic measures!): "When Larry Rudolph talked Britney into going into rehab, he was doing what her mother, father and team of professionals with over 100 years of experience knew needed to be done. She was out of control. Larry was the one chosen by the team to roll up his sleeves and deliver the message, to help save her life. The Spears family would like to publicly apologize to Larry for our daughter's statements about him over the past few weeks. Unfortunately, she blames him and her family for where she is at today with her kids and career. Larry has always been there for Britney. For this, we will forever be grateful to him." Out of ALL of the celebrity moms/dads etc., Britney's family has always seemed the most supportive without being possessive and meddling (see Dina Lohan, Matthew Knowels, Joe Simpson, etc.). Idol Gives Back Mystery Performer Revealed! Posted by Kim on 19 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last night on American Idol it was announced that two music industry legends would be singing together for the first time together. It turns out that this "ground breaking" duet has already be prerecorded and of course, leaked by someone in the audience. The duet will be..... Celine Dion and Elvis Presely! Um, yeah, not that exciting. In case you're wondering exactly HOW Elvis will show up, he's being played by a vegas impersonator but his real voice will be used (and apparently his real face, although that doesn't make sense to me). Let's all roll our eyes together, shall we? In my opinion this is a MAJOR let down. They tell us we're going to get two superstars and one of them is an impersonator?? Yawn. Anyways the two will be singing a song called "If I Can Dream". It was spoiled not only by a member of the audience, but also the commercials have Celine attatched to the show when she wasn't mentioned by Ryan. So I'd say it's a safe bet! Oh, and the top 6 will be singing backup, dressed in all white!

AI - The Simon Eye Rolling Controversy Posted by Kim on 18 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Everyone is up in arms over a gesture Simon Cowell made on American Idol last night. After Chris Richardson performed, and gave the judges a little bit of sass, being from Virginia he mentioned the tragedy. After that the camera panned to Simon who was rolling his eyes...which understandably offended some people. Some people have gone as far as comparing this to Don Imus, which is kind of ridiculous if you ask me. Here's a few excerpts released to E! and Ryan Seacrest by American Idol: "I couldn't hear what Chris had said," Cowell told Seacrest. "My rolling of my eyes was to what he had said previously, that singing nasally is a form of singing." Simon went on to say that he wanted to clear this misunderstanding up due to the sensitivity of the situation in Virginia. "We wanted to set the right tone on the show last night and then something like this happens and it just starts fanning the flames…it's not right," Cowell said. "He (Cowell) was reacting to his discussion and argument with Chris," Lythgoe explained. "It's very difficult to hear with the audience boos that accompany most of Simon's comments. It's terribly sad that this has been mistaken as disrespect and Simon has been misrepresented like this." Um, duh people. Stop trying to make this out like it's a bigger issue; anyone with common sense could tell that Chris made some absurd comments about how "singing nassaly is a style" and that definitely deserved an eye roll. I also don't think Chris was simply trying to get sympathy votes or "using" the tradgedy in his favor. I stick by what I said about him last night....he was about to breakdown crying right there on the stage. Time Travelers Wife Casting Posted by Kim on 18 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm reading this book The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger right now. I already knew Rachel McAdams was cast as Claire before I started the book, and I was wondering all along who would play Henry, the other lead. I couldn't think of any male actor who would fit the part (except maybe Christian Bale), but obviously Eric Bana didn't come to mind (who's a better choice). The two of them are absolutely perfect for the leads! If you're not familiar with the book, it's about a guy who has a genetic disorder that causes him to time travel at any given moment. The story isn't science fiction like it sounds, it's pretty much purely about his relationship with his girlfriend/wife. I'm about half way through the book right now; it's good, I wouldn't call it great though. And by the way, does anyone see parallels between this story and Henry on Lost? I'll talk about that more in my Lost recap tomorrow. Shooting for The Time Travelers Wife starts in August and is set for release in 2008.

American Idol - Top 7 Posted by Kim on 17 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This week it's all about country music on American Idol, with guest coach Martina McBride. Kicking off the theme was Phil with Where The Blacktop Ends. This definitely isn't my type of music but Phil did a great job with this. That didn't surprise me though, I always knew he had the voice for this type of music. So, was this enough to save Phil? Believe it or not I hope so, he deserves to stick around another week. Going first (which was intentional, I'm sure) won't help though. After that Jordin hit the stage in a really beautiful gown and an even more beautiful hair style. She sang Broken Wing by Martina McBride, which has been song at least two or three times before on the show. Not that I can remember any of those performances though, but I"m sure I'll remember this. I have (off and on because it gets boring sometimes, honestly) and last night was a great episode! The dancers and celebs did latin dances, my personal faves, the rumba and the samba. The best performance of the night hands down was Apolo Anton Ono and his partner Juliane. Every single thing about his performance worked together (and I loved her outfit!) like the judges said, and they scored the first perfect 30 of the show....and boy did they deserve it! On drugs: I grew up in LA and it's filled with all these young celebrities who are just on the brink of being really huge and successful. I was young and there was a really big group of us that hung out together. I saw a lot of people from this group turn to drugs and literally fall off the face of the earth. It really effected me. However, unfortunately, there are times when things, horrible things, happen and make the news. Rarely, however, are they in our backyards. I live very close to Virginia Tech where, this morning, a gunman opened fire in two buildings on campus, killing at least 31 people. I have friends that attend the university, and I'm friends with many alumni. I, myself, attended a sister university in the area. Personally, I just want to send my thoughts and prayers to all of those affected, and I sincerely hope those of you I know are okay. This is a tragic and unfortunate incident, and it is one I wish had never occurred.

Kate & Prince William Split Posted by Tiff on 14 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reports are circulating and have apparently been confirmed by friends of the Prince, he and long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton have apparently split. Reports further blame paparazzi and William's life in the Army for the split. This news comes after wide media reports, especially around Christmastime, that the Prince had planned to propose. She was widely thought to be Britain's next Princess and future Queen. Opinion: Maybe this is just a diversion so they can have privacy? If not, they're young. Everyone doesn't have to marry in their mid/early 20's.

Idols Do EW Posted by Kim on 14 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The American Idol finalists take over the cover of Entertainment Weekly this week. I absolutely LOVE this shoot...very cute and creative! Poor Phil getting his picture blocked out, though. Inside the issue they ranked the best and worst mentors by awarding them mic's (kind of like giving them stars). Tony Bennett got the highest, followed by JLo, Lulu/Peter Noone, Diana Ross and coming in dead last was Gwen Stefani. I've got to agree with this for the most part, EXCEPT I don't think Jennifer Lopez was a better mentor than Lulu. I mean, if Paula ever left that woman should totally take over. Some tidbits... -Lakisha has "sequestered" herself from the other contestants, which Ryan thinks is smart. -About the low ratings this season, Simon says "We're doing as well as we are doing with not a great cast at the moment, to be honest with you. They're not the best bunch of kids we've ever had." I wonder how the contestants feel hearing things like this? -Blake is VERY rebellious. He complains about the judges contradicting themselves, about chaperones and about having to live with three other people (which I've done and I don't blame him for that at all). He also said he broke the 10pm curfew by staying out to 1:30, saying "What are they going to do, 'you can't sing anymore'? I got reprimanded by singing last, which is probably the best thing that can happen." THAT'S how the reprimand the contestants? Uh, okay... -The shows producer comments on the strict conditions the contestants live under by saying, "The show is not a prison, we just want ot make sure they don't get mugged or get in trouble". Lol. -Chris didn't have a lot to say. No big surprise there.... -Melinda knows that people call her Shrek and Platypus. Ouch. -Sanjaya knows he's obnoxious. More scans here.

In a movie together? SUCH a cute couple! The movie is called License To Wed and it also stars Robin Williams. Here's the synopsis from Yahoo! Movies: A young couple's wedding plans are interrupted when the pushy minister of the bride's family church orders the pair to complete a two-week prenup course. They must pass the class if they want to marry in his church. The groom fails the course and loses the girl but fights to win her back. I remember seeing John filming this at the mall a year or two ago. I still can't figure out why they had to use the crappy downtown Macy's, but whatever. Paris Bennett For VFTW Posted by Kim on 13 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yup, AI5's fifth place contestant Paris Bennett is card carrying member of Vote For The Worst. She called into a radio show in Minneapolis this morning and admitted that she visited the website and is voting for Sanjaya this season. When asked why SHE wants him to win she answers with "we're voting for him", which makes it sound like she's really been brainwashed by the group. Here's an excerpt from the interview: "We want to see him [Sanjaya] win because it'll kind of prove that 'American Idol' is kind of losing its taste," says Bennett, "it kinda isn't going for talent anymore and more for popularity." Lost 3.16 - One Of Us Posted by Kim on 12 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Where do I even start with this episode? Last night we saw the second Juliet centric episode of the season, which not only gave us more information about the Others but insight into her character. Honestly, I think Juliet has quickly become one of, if not the most well written and well developed characters on the show. I wish some of the main characters were as dimensional as she is! The flashback sequences covered her first days on the island while in real time, we see her integrating with the survivors back at camp. Alright, let's talk about her flashbacks first. American Idol 6 - Top 8 Elimination Posted by Kim & Tiff on 11 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tonight on 'American Idol' season six, it was time to see one of the top eight go home. Last night, the contestants performed songs of a Latin persuasion, and Jennifer Lopez coached. The show came off as quite generic and boring, though there were a few decent performances scattered throughout. Tiff: First, the final eight led off with a group performance of "Bailamos." They paired Sanjaya and Haley and they were horribly off key. But Blake and LaKisha sounded good together. Kim: That group number was MUY caliente! One of my favorites that I can remember, actually. All the guys sounded GREAT, even Chris! Tiff: I'm not a music hater, but why in the heck did they bring Akon back tonight to perform "Don't Matter?" That's not a Latin song, and it's got nothing to do with 'Idol.' All I want is to see the results really. No, really. And did they have to make the show an hour long tonight? Don't they know I've got things to do? Kim: Well, see they pretaped a bunch of performances a couple of weeks ago (get ready for Fergie and Robin Thicke in the coming weeks) so they could fill up the time. But I agree, that song is such a bore. Couldn't he have sung "I Wanna Love You"? Or even "Smack That"? Tiff: Then, the show did an audition spoof with the real Tony Bennett, after talking again about 'Idol Gives Back.' And after what seemed like an eternity, it was finally onto the results. First in the bottom three was Phil, as I predicted. With Jordin and LaKisha safe, Sanjaya was asked to hang tight for a minute. Second in the bottom three was Haley, also as predicted. Ryan then teased Sanjaya again, telling him to stand, then sit, he'd get back to him. After Blake was safe, it was between Sanjaya and Chris Richardson, with Chris Richardson landing in the bottom three. You could hear Chris fans gasp around the studio. (Amusing. And yes, I know that's mean. Whatever.) Kim: He wasn't REALLY in the bottom 3, folks, but he sure deserved to be! Tiff: Chris Richardson was sent back to safety leaving Haley and Phil in the bottom two. Kim: Jennifer Lopez performed her new single called......uh, somethng in spanish. It was a cool performance. I've never seen her wear so many clothes though, it was weird. Tiff: And, when the results were read, Haley was going home, as I predicted. (Seems like her nine lives were finally up.) She got her sing out, and an amusing dance moment with Blake and Chris R. Kim: I could hear a thousand fangirls squeal during that dance moment. Anyways, I really had my money on Phil, but based on last night's performances the right one of the two went home. I'm gonna miss the fashion show though. But I really wanted a shock elimination this week! Break out your cowboy hats and chaps, it's Country next week on Idol with Martina McBride as the coach. Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler have decided to give their relationship another shot. Here's what they told People Magazine about getting back together: "I think [it was] love, keeping our family together and believing in ourselves," Barker told PEOPLE on Tuesday at Complex Magazine's fifth anniversary party at Area in Los Angeles, where the couple smooched and cuddled all night. And making the kids happy: "Oh my gosh, that is like the biggest treat of all," he said. Barker, 31, and Moakler, 32, who are parents to son Landon, 3, and daughter Alabama, 1½, both wore their wedding rings Tuesday night. "We're pulling out of the separation. Jimmy Kimmel vs. The Media Posted by Kim on 11 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I always love it when celebrities try to take on the media and the paparazzi because it's the one thing in life they CAN'T win at. They might be bigger than the law and just about everything else but this is one battle they'll never in, simply because it's a monster they've created themselves. I caught the end of Jimmy Kimmel filling in for Larry King Live a couple nights ago when he did a show about the paparazzi. He interviewed Emily Gould, the editor of Gawker.com. He mentions a post made on Gawker discussing how "fat" Kevin Costner is and then compared him to Jabba the Hut, and mentioned how pointless the post was. Um, okay...has anyone ever watched Jimmy Kimmel Live? I do just about every night and it doesn't get any more pointless than watching an old man get run over by a bus or someone's head explode or talking about how fat Star Jones is/was for the millionth time. Not to mention repeatedly showing a clip of a woman who fell through the floor for laughts. Oh, or making fun of random, non celebrities on the news . The point is that it's humorous. American Idol 6 - Top 8 Posted by Kim & Tiff on 10 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was Latin week on 'American Idol,' season six, and, being Latin week, the coach was Jennifer Lopez. Tiff: To me, she seemed a lot nicer and friendlier than I expected she might be. I like her as an actress most of the time, but I didn't think she would be that friendly outside of movies. Seems I might've been wrong. Kim: A lot of people thought having Jennifer as a coach was a bit of a joke, but I thought she had a lot of good input for the contestants. I can't think of any other artist who could've coached this theme! Tiff: First up tonight was Melinda with "Sway." She looked pretty. As always, she was a really good singer and performer. Did her song seem really long, or was it just me? I liked her ending. Simon actually finally said something mean, saying her performance was "too old, lounge/cabaret, lazy, and wooden." I really didn't think that about it, it wasn't that bad, but wow, alright then. Kim: If it seemed long that means only one thing...you were bored! I didn't think Melinda was that bad, but my mind did start to wander a few times and that's not a good sign either. And her hair....sheesh, did we learn nothing from Kellie Pickler's appearance on the show earlier this season? Tiff: Second was LaKisha with "Conga." I thought it was a good performance, and it showed a little more personality than usual. I also thought her make-up looked really pretty. Paula seemed to think it was safe, I thought it was a little different than usual LaKisha. Kim: I agree with Paula 100% on this one. I found out someone was going to sing "Conga" earlier today and I knew it would be Lakisha. Why? Because it's a safe, obvious, cliche song choice (like everything else Lakisha sings). But if Lakisha doesn't listen to Diana Ross when she tells her to use a mic stand, or Tony Bennett when he tells her to take the hook of the end of a song, she sure as heck isn't going to take any criticism from Paula. Tiff: Following LaKisha was Chris Richardson with Rob Thomas' "Smooth." Well, he dressed like Rob. I prefer Rob's version, but Chris' wasn't bad at all really. I liked the verses better than the chorus. I didn't think it was a great song for him, but, I'm not sure any songs in this genre would have really worked for him. I thought Kim: I liked what Chris was wearing, and that's about it. It has to be apparent to most people that this guy is ridiculously overhyped. He got up there, he sang the song, it didn't suck. Breaking News: Anna Nicole Paternity Results Posted by Tiff on 10 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When Anna Nicole Smith died on February 8 of an accidental drug overdose, less than a year after the death of her 20 year old son, Daniel, the custody and paternity of her daughter, Dannielynne was up in the air. Soon, the battle became the focus of media attention. Howard K. Stern, who was once Anna's attorney, and lived with her and the baby in the Bahamas claimed to the baby's father. He is listed on the child's birth certificate. However, Larry Birkhead, who had a long-term intimate relationship with Anna was told he was the baby's father, and initially filed a request for paternity right after the baby's birth, long before Anna's death. The baby has been in the custody of Howard K. Stern since the death. DNA was finally ordered a couple weeks ago, to see if Birkhead was in fact, the baby's father. Results released today revealed Larry Birkhead is the biological father of baby Dannielynne. In light of the results, Virgie Arthur, Anna's mother, stated she will work with Larry's lawyer for some sort of arrangement so she can help raise the baby, but she was pleased with the results. A custody hearing is scheduled for Friday. Howard K. Stern said he would not fight for custody. TEAM LARRY. Haha.

Zac Hanson Talks to the Advocate Posted by Tiff on 10 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Zac Hanson, of my long-time favorite band, Hanson sat down with 'The Advocate,' for an insightful (and slightly funny) interview. "Short Answers: Zac Hanson" Former Top 40 "Mmmboppers" Hanson return as indie rockers with The Walk (July 10th) on their own 3CG label. The band's youngest member, Zac, 21, recalls their gay past. Q: Queer director Gus Van Sant shot the video for 1998's "Weird", a song you guys co-penned with gay songwriter-producer Desmond Child. Zac: We chose to work with Gus because he's an incredibly talented director. I don't know if many people know this about Gus, but he's also an incredibly talented musician. He played a Woody Guthrie song with us once. I have this record [Gus] did called 18 Songs About Golf. Q: You guys come from a religious background. Did Gus and Desmond influence your personal views toward gays and sexuality? Zac: My feeling toward gays is always just... everybody chooses. People's sexuality and how they live their lives-they have to decide, and it's not for me to tell them or not to. I don't walk to the marching orders or anything like that. Q: The song "Yearbook" is about someone upset over missing a guy named Johnny. Was this meant to be ambiguous? And more important, is Johnny hot? Zac: Probably. Otherwise there wouldn't be so much controversy over where he is. I love that song because there are so many takes on what that would be. Maybe it's a gay song. Q: The band is the subject of a lot of online fan fiction, most of which imagines all or one of you, especially Taylor, as gay. Zac: That's one end of the spectrum, and the other end is people sending you death threats. I would go with fan fiction any day. And Taylor has that thing about him-and hopefully, he'll forgive me for saying this in an interview-he's just a good-looking pretty boy. Opinion: I laughed when I read the last question/statement. Though Taylor is married with kids, he does, and always has had a bit of a feminine vibe about him, and he's an interesting dresser, which doesn't help. But this is the first time anyone in the band has acknowledged anything of the sort. And, the album is actually slated for May 22 unless the band has changed it and not told anyone. Source

Girls Gone Wild Founder Arrested Posted by Tiff on 10 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maybe you don't know him by name, but Joe Francis is the founder of the 'Girls Gone Wild' series, where college-aged girls flash parts of their bodies, and do other wild things for cameras. Since the chain started, Francis wormed his way into Hollywood with money made from his venture, befriending people like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan. Last week, a court found Francis in contempt, due to a lawsuit linked to seven women that were underage when filmed. At first, he refused to surrender, and then said he would surrender in Panama City Beach, FL today, where the lawsuit originated. Instead of giving him a chance to turn himself in, the police met him at the airport. Personally, I think it's somewhat disgusting and at the same time intriguing that a man can be made a multi-millionaire (worth $29 million) for taking a camera and filming girls flashing their chests on Spring Break. It just shows that not only are we, as Americans, driven by sexual images, but also many girls don't have respect for themselves when they do something like that (and make someone else money.)

TMZ caught the two on camera, and says LC was playfully telling someone else on the phone I'm so mad at you right now, hurry up!", and minutes later Chris showed up and the two entered the club together. Interesting. Maybe Chris should spend more time practicing for the show than hitting the clubs every night. In other news, LC's ex Jason Whaler was arrested for the fourth time in nine months. Let me just say, I absolutely LOVE this theme, and I was totally into Latin pop when it was all the rage a few years ago. Mind you, my knowledge of the music is pretty much limited to that, coupled with the fact that I'm still scarred by Gloria Estefan week in S3. Yes, this theme has all the makings of a potential disaster, but there ARE perfect songs out there, if the contestants can just manage to find them. And if they don't, I'm sure Sanjaya will entertain. Both Larry Birkhead and Howard K. Stern claim to be the baby's father. Though Stern is listed on the birth certificate, many have argued Anna and Howard were not in an intimate relationship. Here's what Justin Timberlake had to say about his deals with the Grammy's and McDonalds: I used to care about those awards and trophies - maybe when I was younger. Come on, it’s all a load of bull, right? I view the Grammys the same way I as I see my deal with McDonald’s. I regret the McDonald’s deal. I don’t regret doing the Grammys entirely but I wish I hadn’t put so much of myself into it. It’s kind of interesting. Just like the McDonald’s deal, whose market share went up 25 per cent when I walked into those offices and changed their image. When I did the Grammys, the viewing figures went up by 25 per cent. American Idol 6 - Top 9 Cuts Posted by Kim & Tiff on 04 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Another week of 'American Idol' 6, and of course, another elimination has to happen. Tiff: The first thing we saw tonight was a commercial for Ford to the song, "One Love." Kim: Even I saw it this week! It was cute! But did anyone else notice Melinda was all up on Sanjaya? Dang. Back up girl or else Chris Hansen is gonna be at your door.... Tiff: Since Tony Bennett coached the contestants, he was supposed to perform; however, he came down with the flu, and Michael Buble performed in his place. Kim: Ugh, this guy is SO overrated.... Tiff: Then it was on to the eliminations. Tonight, the contestants were paired into three groups. One was the top three, one was the middle three, and one was the bottom three. Kim: I hate the groups! Thankfully no one had to choose sides. But the good thing about this was that we got to find out about where everyone was ranked. Tiff: Not surprisingly, Jordin, Melinda, and LaKisha were the top three. Kim: They're your dreamgirls, boy. Tiff: And, Blake, Chris Richardson, and Sanjaya were the middle three. I can't say I was surprised. This Sanjaya thing has become an amusement to America. Oh, and his hair was shorter. I swear, he changes his hair more than me, and I change my hair a lot. Kim: His hair was shorter last night; I dont think anyone noticed because it wasn't wavy like usual. But was cutting his hair a smart move? Hmm, we'll see next week! Tiff: With the other two groups in place, Haley, Gina, and Phil were the bottom three, just as I predicted last night. Kim: I think EVERYONE saw it coming. But while I was watching the show, I couldn't help but think "that group is just TOO obvious". And then of course, I started to panic and my palms started sweating. But all was fine actually. Tiff: Ryan sent Phil to safety, leaving Gina and Haley. I can't say I was surprised. I assumed Haley would go, and judging by her tears and her face, she thought her time was up as well.... however.... not the case. Gina was going home. Seeing their reactions, I don't think things worked out as they expected. I didn't really expect it either. Haley is a pretty girl, but as many times as she's been in the bottom three, she's like a cat with nine lives on this show. Kim: I just checked the archives ('cause I have a bad memory like that, ya know?) and this was actually only Haley's third time in the bottom 3 (this week and last). But it was Phil's THIRD time in the bottom 3 (this week, last, and top 12 week). And that's only going by what they tell us. But I NEVER would've thought these two would still be around during top 8 week. Especially Haley. Tiff: I have to say, I am a little surprised, not shocked. I think Gina was definitely better than a few people that are still there. I never thought she would win, but I didn't think she would get voted out in the top 9. Kim: I figured it would be Gina, mainly because you tipped me off before the show started here on the West Coast! I thought Gina would stick around until somewhere in the middle. And even though she never wowed me, I do think the show lost something with her. She brought some diversity to the show., Smile, though your heart is breaking. What an appropriate song for an elimination. Sad! Next week the theme is Latin with Jennifer Lopez as a guest coach, and I'm sure Marc Anthony will be there too. Look for our song suggestions this weekend!

Trend: Sailor Shorts Posted by Kim on 04 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I saw these sailor style shorts in Express the other day and I thought they were pretty....weird, to be honest. I do really like unique pieces, but when it comes to bottoms I stick to basics 98% of the time. The store had a ton of them left, so either they had just been put out or people weren't that interested (probably the latter). I had some free time on my hands so I said "what the hey" and tried the suckers on. They were CUTE. What I like about these shorts is that they look sort of tailored, and even though the fabric doesn't look casual they feel like you're relaxing in a pair of sweats. They fit in a way that reminds me of the pleated front shorts, but without all that ugly menswear-esque construction. Best of all, these short's are TOO short. And this is coming from someone who mainly wear shorts that are "too short". They're a comfortable length and would look great with a wide variety of tops; and the buttons down the front made a really cool effect. The style comes in beige, black and white. In the end I didn't end up buying them because I opted for a pair of beige bermuda's in the same fabric/color and a pair of really casual black shorts. But I've gotta go back and snatch a pair soon, even if they look almost identical to the bermuda's! You just can't beat $34.95!

Lindsay did show up, although there's no account of any interaction between the two of them, let alone pics of them together. But seriously, what was the point of them hating each other over something that was HIS fault to begin with? Britney Wanted To Stay With Kevin Posted by Kim on 04 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There's a lot of conflicting reports about how much money Kevin Federline would get after divorcing Britney Spears....first it was $20 million, then a measly $1 million. The latest figures are as follows: -$500,000 for each year of marraige (doubled from the previous figure in order to speed up negotiations) -$25,000 per month in child support -And joint custody of their children in which he'll have the boys 4 days a week. Yeah, that's a BIG chunk of change in child support which could haunt Britney in coming years, especially if she doesn't ever work again (which at this point could happen). On top of all that KFed will also get half the sale of their mansion, which is selling for $13.5m, and he'll get to keep all of Brit's ritzy gifts. But even more surprising in my opinion were these quotes from Britney, right before they proceeded with all the legal stuff: “Do you really want to do this?” Spears asked K-Fed as the two met to discuss final details of their divorce, reports to the upcoming issue of the tab. K-Fed said yes, and his estranged wife replied, “You’re the biggest mistake I’ve ever made, but thank you for my babies.” And apparently Kevin lead Britney on, thinking they would get back together if she completed rehab. Trouble for Project Runway 3 Posted by Kim on 04 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Things aren't looking too good for the third season of one of my favorite shows! Auditions were held at the Standard in downtown LA with a REALLY low turn out. Apparently the production crew has apparently been contacting up and coming designers last minute to try out for the show. If you ask me, this is just crazy! Why on earth wouldn't more designers want the kind of attention that a show like Project Runway can bring? I mean, putting aside "creative editing" and what not, if I could sew I'd be there in a snap. Oh, and Nick Verreos from S2 is coming to little old Bakersfield later this month for the Look and Feel Your Best Expo. I'm kind of surprised, but considering he teaches at my school it's a bit anti climatic for me! Source

Real World Las Vegas Cast To Reunite Posted by Kim on 04 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Remember The Real World: Las Vegas, when seven slutty strangers lived together in the penthouse apartments at the Palms casino? Well, MTV is getting the entire cast back together (Irulan, Alton, Frank, Arissa, Trashelle, Steven and Bren) for six episode reunion show which starts shooting in the same location April 14th. This was actually the last season of the Real World that I watched, and I actually quit watching it somewhere towards the end. People on this show are always, as I like to put it, "morally challenged", but on top of that it was just the most superficial, vapid and pointless season in the history of the show. It also set record ratings; go figure. Obviously MTV is trying to capitalize on that, considering everything post Las Vegas has pretty much TANKED. I can't remember, were there any of the male castmates that Trashelle DIDN'T sleep with? I swear, homegirl must have more STD's than Paris.... Source

American Idol 6 - Top 9 Posted by Kim & Tiff on 03 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tonight on 'American Idol' season 6, the theme was "Classics," with coach Tony Bennett. Kim and I opted not to do suggestions this week, because frankly, we weren't very excited about the theme. Ryan announced that the very first 'American Idol' winner, Kelly Clarkson will be performing at the 'Idol Gives Back' concert. And a bunch of other celebs like Forrest Whittaker, Keira Knightley and Daniel Raddicliffe will be there doing.....uh, something. Couldn't they get JHud to come and sing And I Am Telling You? Anyways, for more information visit americanidol.com. Tiff: First up tonight was Blake with "Mack the Knife." To me, it seemed he was a bit sharp in places. His voice didn't sound bad really, I just wasn't thrilled with the song or the performance. I like it better when he sings music from other generes. I wish he'd modernized this a bit, and I wouldn't have felt like I was watching a period lounge singer. The judges loved him, and he did do good for going first. Kim: Yeah there were some pitch problems sprinkled throughout. And something seemed odd at the beginning, but I thought he brought it home at the end. It's great that he doesn't feel the need to remix and remake EVERY song...as much as I enjoy that, it wouldn't have worked here and he would've been criticized for it no matter what. He did the right thing by just letting his voice nad his moves give it a contemporary feel. Tiff: Second was Phil with "Night and Day." The vocal wasn't awful, but I can't say I was a fan. I think he went a little too low, and the whole performance just seemed dreary to me. It just seemed flat (and I don't mean pitch.) I was amused when Simon said it was gloomy, because I got the same impression. Kim: I can see what others didn't like about this, but I didn't think it was all that bad! I mean, sure just about everyone else does better, but it wasn't a total trainwreck! And thank goodness Phil shaved his stubbly head before the show. Isn't he a bit young to have a hair line that receeds THAT much? Tiff: Melinda performed "I Got Rhythm." This song always reminds me of the grandma who sings it in 'My Girl.' As we already knew, she's got a big voice, and it works really, really well for this genre. It was yet another good performance from her. Not only does she sing well, but she also entertains. Simon amused me saying he didn't think they would ever be able to criticize her, and that's a problem. Kim: She WAS entertaining this week! For the most part, at least. For me, she's back after a few weeks off. And you're right, not being able to criticize her is a problem because they'll have to start nitpicking on trivial things. Just watch and see..... Tiff: Fourth came Chris Richardson with "Don't Get Around Much Anymore." I actually really liked this performance. I thought he mixed the old feeling of the song with a modern feel well. Put it this way - he didn't put me to sleep. It also seemed like he wasn't singing as nasally as usual, and it sounded better. Kim: I got distracted the first time. The band, Hanson released their latest album, "The Walk," overseas, and will release it on May 22 in the United States and Canada.

The latest rumor is that Angelina Jolie is now planning to adopt a girl from Chad in order to "balance out the family". A "source" says that she wants a balance of ethnicities, basically, amongst her children, and doesn't want Zahara to feel alienated. Does this mean Brad and Angelina will be having another baby? Because chances are Shiloh is going to notice she's the only white kid in the family! And what about gender balances? If they have three girls they'll HAVE to get a third boy to balance that out, and if that kid is a whole new ethnicity, that means getting another one after that to balance things out for him! Howard K. Stern Sanctioned Posted by Tiff on 02 Apr 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Legal wrangling in the cases surrounding the death of former Playmate Anna Nicole Smith continue. Today, a Bahamian judge denied Howard K. Stern's request to appeal the DNA testing that is underway to determine paternity of baby Dannielynne. Further, the judge sanctioned (fined) Stern, ordering him to pay $5,000 in attorney fees and $5,000 to the Bahamian lawyer of Larry Birkhead, who is also involved in the paternity suit. Due to the recent ruling, the paternity results could be released anytime. Opinion: If Stern really knows without a doubt he is the baby's father as he so claims, why wouldn't he let them perform the DNA and clear him? I really don't think he's the baby's dad at all, and I think he has been grasping straws at this point. I think Larry is the baby's dad, but we'll see.

Constantine has signed on to be a fictional version of himself on CBS' daytime soap, 'The Bold and the Beautiful.' This summer, he'll begin the role, playing a musician and music producer. He will be involved with the character Phoebe, and there is talk of some love triangle. Opinion: I've never watched this soap a day in my life. I tend to watch 'Days' when I *do* watch a soap. And actually, I think it's odd that he's going to be on the show. Nothing wrong with it, but if you had asked me in April '05 what I thought he would do two years later - I would've answered everything directly with "music." Looks like he wanted to act more. Elliott Yamin Sets Indie Sales Record Posted by Kim on 30 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With his debut album, AI5 second runner up Elliott Yamin breaks the soundscan record for the highest selling debut ever on an independent label. His record sold over 90,000 copies in it's first week. To put this in perspective, he sold about 20k more than Kellie Pickler did during her first week, and about 15k less than runner up Katharine McPhee. All in all, 90k is a huge number for any indie artist, or any idol at that. Even though I'm surprised he did so well, I always slightly disagreed with the people who said he wouldn't be marketable. Lost 3.14: Expose Posted by Kim on 30 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Last night's episode was all about Nikki and Paolo and I L-O-V-E-D it! It wasn't ground breaking and it did absolutely nothing to move the overall plot forward, but it sure was an intriguing story story within the series. So, most of us pretty much knew that Nikki and Paolo were getting the shaft since both of the actors were cast in other movies/tv shows, etc. I really wonder why no one seems to ever want to stay on the show, but that's another story. I knew how she'd die, but the ending was still pretty shocking. Quick overview...Nikki and Paolo's first and only episode goes back to before they were on the island. Nikki is a guest star on a hit tv show in Australia, and she and Paolo team up to con an old TV producer out of his money. Is there anyone on the island who hasn't majorly broken the law? Their backstory goes back to the very beginning and we see old characters like Artz, Shannon and Boone. The diamonds the two stole were in a suitcase that fell out of the plane; Paolo finds them, but doesn't tell Nikki. Obviously this leads to trouble later. Paolo initially hides the diamonds in the bathroom at the Pearl station (they find that and the plane before anyone else does) but decides to store them, uh, in his underwear later on. Why he did this really doesn't make any sense, but it does move the plot forward. In order to get the diamonds back Nikki throws a spider on to Paolo who's venom will paralyze anyone it bites. Now, she's not too bright either because Artz specifically told her that the spider would attract male spiders just like it....so the girl gets her diamonds, but she gets bit too. The rest of the group thinks their both dead. Sawyer and Hurley think she says "power lines" or "paolo lies" (clever!) but it was really "paralyzed". Nikki's eyes open....but not in time for her to stop them from burying her and Paolo alive! This is probably the most disturbing and unsettling death on the island, which is funny since we didn't really get to know the characters very well. Honestly, my recap doesn't do much justice to the episode. The non linear approach they took made the mystery play out nicely. I don't think we're going to be seeing either of them ever again. In fact, I'll put money on it. Sure it's unresolved, but Michael and Walt anyone? And I was glad that Sawyer did the right thing and threw the $8 million worth of diamonds into the grave. Those two deserved to be buried with the diamonds. Moral of the story, kids: this is what greed will do to you! But let's not forget what Locke said "nothing stays buried on this island". Here's what Halle Berry told US Weekly about her suicide attempt: "I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming, when I had an image of my mother finding me," she says. "She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do. It was all about a relationship. My sense of worth was so low," Berry said. "I promised myself I would never be a coward again." Berry describes her second marriage, to singer Eric Benet, as "really horrific." "We were in sex rehab after one year. I wish I had left then, but I was putting everyone's needs before mine," she says. I've never cared much for Halle, mainly because she's always come across as one of those pathetic, woe-is-me type women who dates loser after loser and blames everyone else for her problems. Attempting suicide; really unfortunate. But using it to promote your new movie? Just really low.

Jennifer Hudsons Next Role Posted by Kim on 29 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It looks like Jennifer Hudsons acting career wasn't just a fluke. She's reportedly signed on to a new role in the movie Winged Creatures where she'll be playing fellow 2007 oscar nominee Forrest Whitakers daughter. Here's a quick summary of the film from IMDB: A group of strangers form a unique relationship with each other after surviving a random shooting at a Los Angeles diner. It sounds like that show The Nine that got cancelled on ABC after like three episodes. Anyways, the movie also stars Dakota Fanning, Guy Pearce and Kate Beckinsale....talk about an A list cast! Oh, and I also read that Jennifer auditioned for a role in Quentin Tarantino's Grindhouse (not much of a loss, in my opinion) and she's also in line to voice Disney's first black princess in The Frog Princess. In the meantime, Winged Creatures is set for release sometime next year and from what I've heard shooting has already begun.

Idols Do People Mag Posted by Kim on 29 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The AI top 10 finalists nabbed the cover of People magazine this week, where they reveal interesting and embarrassing information about themselves. I mean, these folks listen to N'Sync, Hanson and the Spice Girls; you'd think it was 1997. And boy is Haley trying to work it for the male vote....can't blame the girl for trying, though. Check out the rest of the scans: And Chris Sligh gives a really interesting exit interview, and admits that he almost dropped out of the competition. He says... "I never came into this wanting to win it. I come from an indie / alternative rock kind of background," Sligh told TV reporters during a conference call. "For me, I think winning would hurt what I was really going for." After the judges criticized his arrangement of the Diana Ross classic "Endless Love," said Sligh: "I went to the guy from 19 [Entertainment] and said, 'If I drop out, can I still go on tour?' And they were like, 'No, you have to get voted out.' So I was like, 'Well, we'll see what happens.'" He goes on to talk about his bet with Phil, all the death threats he got for talking back to Simon (not even kidding) and he criticizes America for not getting his sense of humor (and a lot of people sure didn't!). Chris was definitely a rather polarizing contestant, but I guess that comes with the territory on this show when you want to be better than the average cookie cutter pop star. American Idol 6 - Top 10 Cuts Posted by Kim & Tiff on 28 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The usual Wednesday custom of sending someone home continued tonight on 'American Idol' 6. Tiff: Ryan Seacrest took the stage in a very amusing Sanjaya inspired pony-hawk wig. He claimed he'd been "Sanjaya'ed." And clearly, Sanjaya was amused. Tiff:This week, Gwen Stefani provided the theme and coaching for the contestants, and tonight, she performed with Akon, "Sweet Escape." Personally, I prefer alternative-chick Gwen. I adored her back in Junior High. I even used "Spiderwebs" for a thing in a talent show (embarrassing, so we won't talk about that now. Haha.) Kim: Tiff you've gotta get a video of that up on Youtube! It'll be a hit! Anyways, isn't Gwen so cute? She's just adorable! But her performance sucked and she lip synched. And did Akon really need to come all the way down there just to say "woohoo" a couple times? Eh, that guy is just creepy. I bet he tried to recruit one of the girls to be his 5th wife. Tiff: On to the eliminations. First, Phil landed in the bottom three. I don't really think his performance was bad at all, but he doesn't seem to be very well liked by America....people think he's creepy looking. I don't so much, but that's what I've read everywhere. Then, Haley landed in the bottom three, as I predicted. There really wasn't a surprise there. Kim: Okay, Haley wasn't a big surprise (even though I liked her performance) but what the HECK was Phil doing in the bottom 3?? He had the best performance of the night....opinion, I know, but still, open your ears! Tiff: Chris Sligh was also in the bottom three, as I also had predicted. Ryan then sent Phil back to safety, leaving Chris Sligh and Haley. Tiff: Ryan then revealed that Haley was safe, meaning Chris Sligh was eliminated. Sadly, I can't say I'm shocked. He's got a great voice, and he showed a lot of promise initially, but I think he started losing his way not long after Hollywood. He's a good singer, but this probably wasn't the best show for him. I did notice he wore an outfit very similar to the one Constantine (season four) and Chris Daughtry (season five) wore when they were eliminated. No, I know, I shouldn't remember that, but I thought it to be ironic. Anyway, I'm sure Chris will continue to be successful with his music, even if it's locally. I liked him. Kim: I was hoping you'd notice the way Chris was dressed, just so that I didn't feel so nitpicky and obsessive. Don't ask me what DAUGHTRY was wearing when he got the boot though. And it's unfortunate to see Chris go, he really could've done a lot better in the competition but ultimately he can't blame anyone else but himself. It goes to show that you can strategize as much as you want about the details, which are important to, but it's song choice that is the most important factor. But honestly, prior to last night, I wouldn't have imagined him going home so early. Tiff: He actually got to sing the show out, and Ryan revealed next week's theme is Tony Bennett. I'm all for classics, but that makes me sleepy just thinking about it. Kim: Heh, this isn't exactly a group of contestants suited for standards, or even big band. But I'm dying to see what Blake will do with this!

American Idol 6 - Top 10 Posted by Kim & Tiff on 27 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tonight on 'American Idol' the theme was No Doubt and songs that have inspired Gwen Stefani. There had been all kinds of rumors of theme changes, and somehow, I don't think this is where the theme started, but it's where it ended up. Gwen Stefani was the guest coach this week. Tiff: LaKisha nabbed the first spot this week with "Last Dance." When the song first started, I didn't realize what it was, and I thought 'Another ballad?' Then, luckily, the tempo changed. I think doing something a bit faster was smart this week, because she was working her way into a rut. She sounded good, not great, but good. And, I liked her hair a lot more this week. Kim: Last Dance is probably one of the three worst song choices a person can make on Idol, but I think Lakisha pulled it off to a degree. I think she lacked the confidence to REALLY bring the type of energy needed to the song, but at least it wasn't karaoke (which is hard to do with any Donna Summer song). Oh, and I didn't like her new weave. The red always looks tacky to me. Tiff: Second was Chris Sligh with "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic." I really, really, really wish he'd chosen another song. Any other song. See, this song is forever linked in my head with Constantine Maroulis' performance in season four, that I really liked. While Chris wasn't horrible, I didn't like his rendition much at all (and I'm a big fan of his.) I think he started a little high, and the getting ahead of the tempo thing is something he's done three times. I'm not saying it's easy to sing on a show like this, but that could really hurt him. Kim: Sorry, but I hated Constantine's version and Chris was even worse. This was definitely his weakest performance, and I don't understand why it's so hard for him to keep up with the tempo! On top of that his hair reminded me of a wet dog. Tiff: Gina made one of the smartest song choices of the night with "I'll Stand by You." It's a song I've always loved, and I tend to sing thanks to my iPod while running errands. I actually didn't like her performance as much when I initially heard it, and then, when I watched it back, it really was a great performance from her - one of her best since she's been on the show. I really wasn't into the hoochie dress with boots. The dress might have been cute without the boots, but together, not so much. Kim: I've always liked this song, and it was a great fit for Gina's voice. I wasn't raving about it like the audience and the judges were....something was obviously lost in translation for me because I watched it back and I still didn't hear anything fantastic about it. But she did a good job. My only real gripe is why, WHY in the world would you sing such a beautiful ballad and go up on stage dressed like 2c hooker?? That totally ruined the ambiance for me. Spring Fashion Report Posted by Kim on 27 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- When I'm not writing about celebs and TV here on GTS, chances are I'm probably shopping online or researching trends for school projects. Here's a quick rundown of all the trendy silhouttes, colors and styles for Spring: Dresses Skirts might have been the hot commodity last spring, but 2007 is the year of the dress. Especially super short mini dresses and baggy shapeless shift or a-line dresses. Jumpers are still cute and anything with a bold pattern gives you extra style points. SuperHigh Heels Apparently medium heeled shoes are supposed to be returning, slowly but surely. But for right now, you're either in a super high heel or a ballet flat. Period. Not many other choices at the stores! There's three hot styles to look for under this umbrella. First is the wooden wedge, which has been around for quite a while, and looks great with shorts in the summer. Second is the T Strap, which has a really cool, retro sex appeal about them (but you must have toned calves to pull these off!). Lastly, it's patent leather. Which unfortunately won't go away. Curse you, Christian Louboutin! Color Block The bright colors of the 80s, and the skimpy silhouttes of the60s come together perfectly in the color block trend. Look for anything two or three coordinating colors, especially in a mini shift dress like the two in the pictures. Also look for assymetrical tops to make a comeback. That's not the end! Premonition Review Posted by Kim on 27 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I got to the movies for the first time this year (winter is always slow for good flicks) when I went to see Premonition over the weekend. I had low opinionss for this movie, and I thought I could read it by the trailers alone. Psychological thrillers with a big name attatched to them are almost ALWAYS by the book with a predictable ending. As it turns out, the movie was quite a bit better than I expected. But that's not to say it wasn't predictable. The basic idea behind Premonition is that the main characters husband dies in a car accident, and the next day she wakes up and he's alive. The movie is obviously non linear and goes back and fourth between the days following his death, and the days prior to it. And their is no order to the days she relives, it's just random. My biggest gripe with the film was continuety. I noticed one major inconsistency between what happened in the past and what happened in the future, which made me think she could change the future while she was in the past. But there's really only one instance when she does this, so it makes me think what was the point, really? There's an overall moral to the story for those who catch it (listen to what the Priest says), but for the most part the main character does EVERYTHING the same when she goes back so what was the point in her reliving the past anyways? Hopefully someone has a good answer for that. And it really didn't make sense for her to do certain things when she knew they would get her in trouble in the future; for instance, when she goes to see the psychiatrist. Contrary to what the trailer for the movie would like you to believe, there isn't a single twist or turn in the film. They used a lot of sound effects and dramatic music in inappropriate place, like "omgz, she put her hand in a bloody bird!" or "onoz, she opened her eyes!". Sigh. But putting all that aside, Sandra Bullock did a good job acting wise (despite the stupidity of her character) and the movie held my interest, and didn't make me cringe at cheeseyness, so that's worth something. And speaking of acting, Julian McMahon was the biggest waste of space in this film. All he did was stand their and stare vacantly into space in EVERY SINGLE SCENE. I guess when he's not playing a skeezy character he just loses his charm. The biggest complaint I've heard about this film is the ending. I really didn't mind the way they resolved the plot, but it was the very last scene that I didn't care for. I'm not going to give it away (not to say it's anything shocking, because it's not in the least) but it just made the situation even more sad. All in all, Premonition is a decent film, but it didn't exactly satisfy my craving for a good old psychological thriller 6/10 Oh, and one last thing, during the previews before the movie (my favorite part!) they showed a couple interesting trailers.... Disturbia starring Shai LeBouf I bet I'm off on this, but this film looks darn good; like a real edge of your seat thriller. It's about a kid who's on house arrest, and has nothing to do but spy on his neighbors. He finds out about all their dirty laundry, but gets into the hamper a little too deep when he sees (or thinks he sees) a neighbor murder someone. Methinks this will be like Domestic Disturbance with an ending similar to Gothika, but I'm gonna check it out anyways. Fracture starring Anthony Hopkins and Ryan Gosling Can you get a cast better than that? In this movie Ryan Gosling plays a young attorney who is one step away from becoming a prosecuter, but one case stands in his way. That case has to do with Anthony Hopkins character, who murdered his wife (very Lecter-esque). Beyond that, I can't really explain the premise, so check out the trailer for yourselves: Perfect Strangers starring Bruce Willis & Halle Berry The only thing worse than a star vehicle thriller is a star vehicle thriller starring Halle Berry. Her movies are just straight up TERRIBLE. The Rich Man's Wife, anyone? Yeah, I think this is a redux of that film. Anna Nicole Cause of Death Posted by Tiff on 26 Mar 2007 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- She wanted to be like Marylin, and it looks like she just might have gotten her wish. This morning in a press conference, Anna Nicole Smith's cause of death was revealed to be an accidental overdose of legal drugs. A combination of sleeping pills and other prescribed drugs contributed to her death. The high fever was due to an abscess, which caused infection, further causing her body to shut down. Now still pending are the results of the paternity test for baby Dannielynn, which are expected any time. I actually said I figured she'd overdosed when we first heard she'd collapsed and then that she'd passed. I don't think it's too surprising really.
