Constantine Goes to Soaps
Posted by Tiff on 30 Mar 2007

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

News on the Constantine front has been somewhat quiet since he wrapped up Brel, but it looks like something was, in fact, in the works.

Constantine has signed on to be a fictional version of himself on CBS' daytime soap, 'The Bold and the Beautiful.' This summer, he'll begin the role, playing a musician and music producer. He will be involved with the character Phoebe, and there is talk of some love triangle.

Opinion: I've never watched this soap a day in my life. I tend to watch 'Days' when I *do* watch a soap. And actually, I think it's odd that he's going to be on the show. Nothing wrong with it, but if you had asked me in April '05 what I thought he would do two years later - I would've answered everything directly with "music." Looks like he wanted to act more. Oh, and he's been teasing saying he's going to buzz off his hair. No idea if that's true or not.

Constantine In Brel
Posted by Tiff on 12 Jan 2007

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, Kim and I have been so busy lately that we forgot about Constantine starting is role in 'Jaques Brel Is Alive and Living In Paris.' He started the show on January 9th.

Anyway, I came across an interview he'd done with someone named TJ, but I couldn't find the original source. (Edit: it's BroadwayWorld.com. And the article is with T.J. Fitzgerald.) Anyway, he talks about past theater experiences and what not. He mentions that he's excited about his CD, and it's been a couple years in the making. (I copied and pasted the whole thing for you all if you click 'read more.)

And I'm glad to see that this time he didn't label himself as a "f*****' artist," and that appears he left the pot with someone else. Good move.

(Yes I still like Constantine, but I don't have to like all the choices he makes, so avoid the hate mail....this is girls talkin' smack.)

Constantine Is Alive And Well On Broadway
Posted by Kim on 30 Oct 2006

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a brief stint on broadway, in the musical The Wedding Singer, Constantine Maroulis is headed off broadway for a role in the play Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris. Phew, long title. His stint with The Wedding Singer ends early December, and he's set to take over the new gig at the beginning of next year. My guess is he'll have much heavier work load this time around, considering this cast only has 3 other members! But I'm sure he'll do great, especially after the positive reviews of his performance in TWS.

New Constantine Songs
Posted by Kim on 27 Oct 2006

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heaven Help The Lonely
Okay, I've calmed myself down now. I think this is a REALLY awesome song. Am I the only one who thinks it sounds kind of old school, classic rockish? Maybe I'm off, but the sound is totally cool. And the lyrics are great too.

So Long
This song was being so stubborn, it took me like 15 minutes to play. Well worth it though. It's funny because just today I was wondering when and if we'd get any more previews of Constantine's new music. I was also thinking how, even though I like his fluffy pop songs, I'd like to see something a tad bit...deeper. Well, here you go. This is definitely a side of him we've never seen before. And he sings his HEART out on this song. I also like the fact that the song has a little bit of soul to it, and it's not sappy, which is an easy route to take on a song like this.

Okay, now neither song is working for me. Great, well atleast I got to hear them once!

Listen to them here.

Constantine Rockin' the Village Voice
Posted by Tiff on 07 Oct 2006

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I should have warned you first, shouldn't I? Haha. None other than GTS' favorite multi-tasker artist, Constantine Maroulis graces the cover of this week's 'Village Voice' in New York.

In the article that goes along with the hot pictures, the reporter, Angela Ashman, gives a glimpse into Constantine's life right now. Broadway and fans, and music and all that entails in an interesting read titled, "This Is Constantine Maroulis. He Wishes You Knew That."

Read the entire article, RIGHT HERE.

It talks about the offers he received immediately following his elimination from "Idol," including the modeling and sitcom, and how those didn't pan out, what he thinks about the bad press he's gotten more recently, and his life and how he's living (yes a description of his apartment,) right now.

It's actually perhaps the most revealing glimpse of the real Constantine to date, so check it out.

Former 'Idol' Round-Up
Posted by Tiff on 07 Oct 2006

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GTS' favorite actor/singer, Constantine Maroulis, will be singing the National Anthem at the Mets play-off game on October 12. Catch that on Fox.

And, our favorite Greek star will be performing a special show at The Cutting Room in New York City on October 30. Tickets are on sale now.

And remember, Constantine is still playing the part of Sammy in 'The Wedding Singer' on Broadway, and I hear he's doing really well. Check that out if you're in town.

Fellow Season Four alum, Mario Vazquez, released his debut solo album on September 26, after having dropped out of "American Idol" even though he was a fan favorite early on.

Recently Vasquez reunited with his father, Mario Rivera, after sixteen years.

Ironically enough, he's signed to Arista records, who is also the label who signed Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks. Looks like leaving only got him a different contract, but not a different label.

Season Five's Elliott Yamin is recovering from surgery earlier in the week. The former 'Idol' contestant was at home in Richmond, VA when he was throwing rocks at a nightspot, and his pinky finger caught on a metal rod, "snapped back, and broke."

He is in a cast, but says that the injury isn't altering his plans.

Constantine To Take On Broadway
Posted by Tiff on 24 Aug 2006

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It looks like Girl's Talkin' Smack's favorite multi-talented, multi-tasking Renaissance man, Constantine Maroulis is going to be taking on Broadway.

The thirty year old actor/singer is joining the cast of 'The Wedding Singer' as Sammy starting in September, and it will last through November 5. Not a long term commitment, coupled with exposure, and a good location for keeping the buzz going, this looks like a great move.

In recent interviews Maroulis hinted that he was strongly considering Broadway, among other offers, and it looks like he's accepted this challenge. He has extensive theater background including Shakespeare, productions of 'RENT,' 'Hedwig & The Angry Inch,' 'Titanic,' 'Tango 'Til They're Sore,' and 'Jesus Christ Superstar,' among others.

Constantine has hinted that he wants to give acting a try, as well as continue to pursue his music. He recently wrapped up an extensive Northeastern tour, and will play L.A.'s Viper Room on September 19. It is also expecting that his debut solo album will drop in late 2006 or early 2007.

Visit his official site, constantinemaroulis.com

From the girls here at GTS, good luck, Constantine, you'll be awesome.

Constantine Rocks Baltimore, Again
Posted by Tiff on 05 Aug 2006

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It just isn't summer without a concert for me.

When GTS favorite, Constantine Maroulis released summer tour dates for the Northeast, I knew I'd be at a show. I'm not usually fond of going early in the schedule, because the band is usually getting tighter, and the show, more together, but, the Baltimore, MD date at Rams Head Live worked best with my schedule, and it was the second date on the tour.... Pass up a chance to see Constantine? Not hardly.

The venue was smack in the middle of downtown, right on the harbor. Not to mention the weather was a sweltering hundred degrees, but for anyone who attends concerts regularly, this is the norm.

Opening acts included Jim Boggia, and the Matt White Band. Both acts were good, the music was mellow, but I think pretty much everyone was ready for Constantine when he took the stage after 9 PM to screams and applause.
