Beyonce & Jason Mraz to Mentor on American Idol?

Yup, it’s another American Idol post.

Apparently CHUM FM has gotten it’s hand on a bit of American Idol 8 dirt, but we’ll file this under “rumors” for now, just to be on the safe side. The radio station is saying that Jason Mraz and Beyonce will be mentors this season. If you ask me, this is highly believable, especially Beyonce. The producers already said they’re looking into getting younger musicians on the show and I think Bey’s name was one that was specifically thrown around (along with Britney).

I hope these both turn out to be true; ideally I’d like to see Beyonce do a billboard or 2000s theme and Jason was one of my top choices for an unplugged theme to begin with, something I’ve been wanting them to do for several seasons now.

It’s also highly speculated that Stevie Nicks could be a mentor. Hmmm, I wouldn’t mind a Fleetwood Mac theme; I’d love to see someone take on “Edge of Seventeen” again.

And does anyone still care about the whole Joanna Pacitti thing? Anyone?? Well, I’ll post this anyways, because I think it’s interesting. Mike Darnell, a head from FOX gave an official reason for her getting DQ’ed to the LA Times. It’s honest but pretty pathetic:

“Unfortunately, it was just a perceptional problem, that there [was] just too close a connection between [Pacitti and the employees], we felt,” Darnell said today in an interview. (Darnell’s job at Fox encompasses network oversight of the “Idol” franchise.) “A replacement was made as a producorial and judge choice. Simple as that.”

In other words, her ties to 19e employees ONLY became a problem once the public new about it. Doesn’t surprise me at all.

One more thing! I just wanted to make sure everyone knows in advance that next weeks shows will air Wednesday and Thursday (right in the middle of Lost, thanks a lot!). The show has been bumped due to Obama’s state of the union address.
