Americas Next Top Model: Cycle 8

This is seriously only season 8? It seems like Tyra pumps out atleast twelve seasons per year. Anyways, heres the line up of girls for cycle 8 of America's Next Top Model. Yawn. I got tired of this show after cycle 5, and each year the girls look less and less "model-y".

This time around there are two plus size girls, and with the whole big deal Tyra is making about her weight I wouldn't be surprised if one of them took the title.

Makeover

I never would have recognized this photo of Justin Guarini if it wasn't for his unique, Michael Jacksonish nose. But anyways, yeah, he got a makeover and I'm not sure if this is much of an improvment over the 'fro. The new look is actually for his part in the movie Fast Girl. Good for him for getting a job.

Remember Naima Mora, the winner of America's Top Model Cycle 4? Yup, that's her. Gosh, what do I say about this trainwreck? Only Boy George could pull off that style.

ANTM Romance Novel Shoot

I really wish I hadn't skipped this week's episode of America's Next Top Model because I love this shoot! Definitely a creative idea. Although I do find it somewhat inhumane to subject the girls to posing with Fabio, of all people. Melrose & Anchal's pictures are my faves!

ANTM: The Girl Who Got Cut Too Early

Such a shame to see AJ go so early! The girl took some amazing pics and was obviously popular with the viewers (I don't think this was the first week she won Cover Girl of the Week), but one bad photo, not to mention a bad attitude did her in this week. Otherwise, I would have predicted top 4 or top 5 atleast for her.

This week the aspiring models were challenged to dress up like famous couples. I thought this idea was really lame, but the pictures are pretty interesting. Can you guess who's who? Full pics on the flip side.

America's Next Top Model Winners

The past five winners of America's Next Top Model teamed up to do a shoot for a fashion magazine called Jewel. I think these pics are gorgeous and I especially like the styling. I'm liking Naima's pictures, they're really mysterious. And she's ditched her trademark short hair. It worked for a while but change is never a bad thing! More pics:

ANTM: The Girl Who Gets Sick

Okay, here we go. I haven't posted about America's Next Top Model since the season before last (what cycle is this, 8? lost count a while ago). After taking last season off I have been watching this round, although half heartedly. This time around Monique is the house drama queen (they've always gotta have one) and her actions on this episode were just....wow. Rubbing her dirty swimsuit bottom across someone elses bed? Erm, now fighting dirty is one thing but that was just subhuman and disgusting. What is she going to do next, smear her feces on the wall? Someone lock the girl in a mental institution already.

After that Monique comes down with a mystery illness and chooses to skip the photoshoot. Can we say karma?

Well, this show just gets sillier and sillier. The models had to walk the tight rope in order to train for the runway. Then they did a photoshoot where their runway was a bunch of wobbly boards over a pool. What is this, survivor? Coupled with last weeks elevator race they might as well have full out physical challenges.

In the end of the episode it came down to Eugena and Monique, with Monique getting to boot. Okay she added spice to the show, but good riddance! I kinda do think Eugena should've gotten the boot though.

So my favorite in this thing has been AJ right off the bat. The girl has a unique look; she totally rocks the short hair cut and I love the contrast between her hair and her skin color. So far she's done a really good job with the shoots and challenges, but I'm still a bit worried about that insecurity she showed early on in the season. It seemed to have come out of nowhere and then just dissapear; odd. I also like Anchal, really unique looking (gorgeous picture this week!), and the twins aren't really my taste but boy do they take some good pics!

America's Next Top Model 7

I didn't watch the last season, and I'm not sure if I'll watch this one, but we'll see. There's just too many good shows on at the same time (not that I'd classify ANTM as "good" anymore...). Anyways, this should be an interesting year for makeovers atleast. Those twins are just SCREAMING for the Shandi treatment. The girl with the spiky short cut reminds me of Victoria Beckham. And the girl in the bottom right hand corner definitely has the most striking look out of all of them (even if she isn't traditionally pretty). Could she be our winner?

"America's Next Top Model" chose their latest model winner last night, Danielle, 20, of Little Rock, Arkansas took the title.

Danielle faced off against 24 year old Pennsylvania native, Joanie.

This was the sixth cycle for the show. This year's winner also wins a contract with coveted Ford Modeling Agency,a $100,000 contract with cosmetics company, CoverGirl, and a fashion spread in Elle magazine.

Good to see all the girls from past seasons. Pretty cool photoshoot. I think I like Bre's pictures the best (although that tattoo reminds me why I would never get one) but I really love the first picture of Nik. I like that they weren't afraid to highlight her unconventional features, thats definetly what makes her unique (and not generic).

I think I'm beginning to lose interest in America's Next Top Model. Especially with American Idol being on, how can I focuse on another competition, especially one that seems to have milked just about all its got? But anyways, enjoy the pics. And below are a few of Tyra's promotional shots.
