American Idol 8: The Final Cuts….Sorta.

The show kicked off with yet another group rendition of a current billboard hit….Hot & Cold by Katy Perry.  You know, I was really betting on “Womanizer”, “Just Dance” or “I Kissed A Girl”.  None of those could’ve possibly been worse than what we got.  Honestly, it was excruciatingly bad.  All of the guys mug really weird faces and they were dancing on a couch.  But but but I really wanted to see Scott swing on his cane again!

I guess Ryan got the memo saying that we’re tired of him dragging everything out, because right off the bat they called Lil Rounds to center stage and told her she was in.  And she was wearing a really awful outfit.  I totally expected them to pit the pimped one up against someon else right at the very end but I guess they flipped the script tonight. Good call.

Did anyone REALLY think the other folks in that row had a shot against Scott?  Come on now, even they knew they were out.

And then it’s time for the back row.  Nathan and Kristin…yeah, they knew they were out, you could see it on Nate’s face.  Felicia and Von, out.  It came down to Ju’not and Jorge.  Was this one  a surprise to anyone? Not me.  Jorge’s in.  Loves it!  I think he’s great, and I’ve liked him from the beginning.   Out of my five favorites I’m really shocked that Jorge and Kris made it in before Matt and Anoop. Who would’ve thought it.

Wild Card Announcements!
The judges brought back a bunch of contestants and they, along with the rejected contestants from tonight, sat up in the red room as the judges read off their choices one by one.

Randy – Von
Out of all the contestants last night, they picked him?  Total filler. Hopefully

Kara - Jasmine
Yeah, I think she deserves another shot.  Not that I think she’ll make it though.

Paula - Ricky
Duh.

Simon - Megan
*rolls eyes*  Like I said, he’d pick a girl who looks better than she sounds.

Randy - Tatiana
Oh gosh, what was she wearing??? Ugliest dress either!

Kara – Matt
GOOD.  Not that I doubted he’d get another chance.  You better KILL it tomorrow night, Matty.  This season needs you!

Paula - Jesse
I’m REALLY surprised they picked.  She totally deserves the spot but I got he feeling the judges didn’t like her at all.  They noted that she was a last minute change.

Simon – Anoop
Obvious.

The judges screwed up here by not picking Mishavonna and Felicia.  Those two girls performed better than all the girls they picked (save maybe Tatiana) so they deserved a spot. I mean, Mishavonna wouldn’t have made top 12 anyways so I guess it’s not a huge deal but the fact that they didn’t even consider her is total bull.  Felicia is totally top 12 material, but they pick the similar but less talented Megan?  It never hurts to be a pretty blonde girl!

Now, we need to take a look at this gender split.  Last week I said two girls would make it through….I was really, really wrong.  Jorge is one of my favorites but he kinda threw a wrench in things here!  There are two guys who obviously, should be in the top 12, but will the judges actually put EIGHT guys in the top 12 with only FOUR girls?  Please do, I’d be in heaven.

So tomorrow night, I think it’s going to be Megan for sure, Matt OR Anoop and Jasmine OR Tatiana.  That is if they want more of a balanced gender mix.  I’m going to be totally bummed if either Matt or Anoop have to leave though; between the two of them I’d pick Matt though.
