American Idol 7 Charleston

Tonight, the ‘American Idol’ season seven auditions moved south, to Charleston, South Carolina.

Tiff: First tonight was Raysharde. He sang “I Can’t Make You Love Me” and was too dramatic. He thought he sounded like Clay Aiken. I didn’t think so.

Kim: He was fantastic! I love overly theatrical people like this!

Tiff: DeAnna Prevatte was sassy, wasn’t she? She sang a very angry, dramatic version of “Fancy.” She had an odd tone about her voice. Simon wasn’t amused with her snappy commentary, and neither was I.

Kim: I think these two got together and planned this ahead of time.

Tiff: Crystal Ortiz and Randy Stark met on the ‘American Idol’ message boards. They must have met in real life, and, to celebrate their being a couple, decided to audition together with the song “She’s More.” Not such a good idea. Neither one of them could sing, at all.

Kim: Well move over eHarmony!! Seriously, the scary boards? It doesn’t get anymore nerdy than that. They should totally challenge the brother and sister Italian opera duo to a death match!

Tiff: Brother and sister combo Michelle and Jeffery Lampkin came next with “I’m Your Angel.” Immediately, I said the brother could sing much better than the sister. His voice was quite good, and he had a hilarious personality. She did okay. They both made it to Hollywood. I think she’ll probably get cut, but he might stick around a while. We’ll see.

Kim: Who would’ve thought that an effiminate man with a neck tie around his head would make it to Hollywood. Their duet was surprisingly good.

Tiff: Another sixteen year old, Amy Flynn auditioned next with “Reflections.” I thought she was good, and had a cute personality. Perhaps a bit immature, but she’s sixteen, that’s expected. She didn’t do as good with that song as she might could have another, but she made it through. I have a feeling she just might have annoyed Kim. Haha.

Kim: NO! You don’t think!! She seems like a sweet girl but how on earth does she teach people when she speaks like a 12 year on tweentard? Elisabeth Hasselback, is that you? Voice wise, she can sing but not well enough to go to Hollywood. I can’t believe she got three yesses!

Tiff: London Weidberg decided to pursue her dream of singing after her father passed. Singing “Good Morning Heartache,” I didn’t think she was anything too different or phenomenal. Simon said the same thing. Unless she pulls some major impressions in Hollywood, I don’t see her sticking around in Hollywood.

Kim: Didn’t we see her yesterday? And a couple of times last week? No point in even commenting on this girl; she’s cannon fodder.

Tiff: Lyndsey Goodman is an Air Force pilot. She sang “Black Velvet,” and reminded me of Mandy Moore [in appearance.] She had an odd tone to her voice, it was alright. She was pitchy. She didn’t make it through.

Kim: Hmm, she was good enough to make it through, especially compared to some people who did. I don’t think she would’ve made too far either way.

Tiff: Aretha Codner was convinced she was “it.” She sang “I Have Nothing” and she wasn’t a great singer. It wasn’t a great song for her. And, alas, she didn’t make it through.

Kim: Honestly I don’t think she murdered it like Simon said, but it wasn’t very good at all. How could she not know she changed the key at the end? And Simon was right about her outfit, ew, it looks like it came from one of those One Price $7 stores.

Tiff: Joshua Boson was also convinced he could sing. He chose “I’m Telling You” which ‘Idol’ aluma Jennifer Hudson made famous. And oh gosh, he was just squeaky and awful.

Kim: Hehehe …artistes. This guy and the “actressing” girl share a vocabulary.

Tiff: Oliver Highman’s wife’s water broke the day before. They left the auditions, and she had their daughter, and he came back the next day to audition with “Get Here.” He had an alright voice, but probably wouldn’t have made it long if he were to have made it to Hollywood.

Kim:  Yeah I think he actually could’ve done better if he had just picked a different song and style……and some better clothes.

Tiff: So far, this season I’m really disappointed. After all, over 10,000 people came to audition and 23 made it through. What does that tell you? Yeah, this show just might be losing steam. I keep hoping they’re holding back the ‘good ones’ to show in Hollywood…. Next week the auditions move to Omaha, Nebraska. Let’s hope it gets better.

Kim:  Not me!  I’ve already got three potential favorites (one who hasn’t been shown yet).  All you need is 12 good people after all.  But this episode was the pits, no denying that.
