6 Celebrities Who’ve Been Homeless

With lavish homes dotted around the globe, it’s hard to picture any of these celebrities without a place to stay, but while many of them were struggling to launch their careers, they didn’t have anywhere else to go – some slept in their cars, others even reportedly slept on park benches, before their career took off and they were able to afford as many mansions that they desired!

Lil Kim

When Lil’ Kim was 8 years old, her mother decided to leave Kim’s abusive father, which left them with no where to go. According to the rapper, she lived out of a car with her mother for a period. She revealed: “There was a time when my mother and I were living out of the trunk of her car. We slept in the back seat.”  Check her out now in the photo.   I bet her sunglasses alone cost a fortune, more than I can afford, and much less than ones you can get at, say, tom ford sunglasses.

Rose McGowan

During an interview in 1997, actress Rose McGowan admitted to being homeless for a year: “I was homeless for a year. I teamed up with this other girl – I met her the first day I was on the streets – and we roamed all over Oregon and Washington.”

William Shatner

After Star Trek was canceled, and his divorce was finalized, Shatner didn’t have a proper place to call home, and would travel from place to place, living in the back of his truck and performing in plays:  “I lived out of the back of my truck, under a hard shell. It had a little stove, a toilet, and I’d drive from theater to theater. The only comfort came from my dog, who sat in the passenger seat and gave me perspective on everything.” In another interview, he continued to describe his time being homeless: “I’d been a working actor for decades, I’d starred in three failed TV series, and I was a divorced father of three children living in the back of a truck.”

Daniel Craig

Before he made it big as 007, Daniel Craig used to sleep on park benches. Back in 2007, Daily Mail reported that Daniel would sleep in a park in London while he struggled to get his career to take off.

Kelly Clarkson

After her apartment in West Hollywood burnt down, singer Kelly Clarkson and her roommate were left homeless – she lived out of her car and even stayed at a homeless shelter for some time: “It was really, really rough because we had just moved here, and we had just moved in the day of the fire. We knew nobody here—I mean nobody, so the night of the fire, the next day, and night, we stayed in our car.”

Halle Berry

Actress Halle Berry found herself homeless aged 21 when she moved away from home and her mother refused to help her pay her rent when she was struggling. Halle now thanks her mother for not helping her, because it taught her a lesson: “I’m actually grateful she did that, because it taught me how to take care of myself and that I could live through any situation, even if it meant going to a shelter for a small stint, or living within my means, which were meager.”
