Demi Lovato

She may be the youngest on this list, but she’s also the one who opened up the most about her experience in rehab. The Disney star entered a facility in late 2010 – she struggled with an eating disorder and was also self-harming at the time: “When I first went into treatment, I didn’t want to be there, and I was kind of like, ‘I’ll just fake it until I make it.’ I stayed in there, and I started believing that I was in there for the right reasons. And even though I didn’t want to be there at the time, some girls might not want to get help, but if they fake it till they make it, hopefully they can get the help that they need, and they can start to believe it, and they can actually see one day that it’s actually the right thing that they’re doing.”

Robert Downey Jr.

In the past, actor Robert Downey Jr. struggled with substance abuse and has been arrested for being possessing cocaine, heroin and  marijuana. Speaking on recovering, Robert says that the therapy sessions he took part in helped him a great deal: “Therapy is great, therapy just works. You just go in and… sit down and you go, ‘His fault!’ And then start from there… I fell apart like 10 years ago and now everything is fine.”

Ronnie Wood

Rolling Stones musician Ronnie Wood was addicted to drugs and alcohol until artist Damien Hirst took him to rehab, which he says saved him: “I’ve blown millions of pounds on booze and drugs in the past, but Damien rescued me. He bundled me into the back of a bread van to avoid the paparazzi and then whisked me away on his private plane. There began my life of recovery. I owe that man a lot.”

Rachel Uchitel

Rachel appeared on Celebrity Rehab which changed her outlook on life after she became addicted to Ambien: “People think it is a moral issue if somebody falls in love, all over the place,” Uchitel said. “It is not, it is a disease and disorder; you feel like you have a hole in your heart and are waiting for a knight in shining armor to come and save you. But it is not an excuse for anyone’s behavior. You get stuck in relationships that are not right; you put a mask over somebody and pretend they’re somebody they’re not. You get disappointed when they don’t react the way you want. I’m a completely different person now than I was before I went on the show.”

Eva Mendes

Eva Mendes spent some time in rehab back in 2008, but never revealed why she checked in : “There are so many lies out there regarding my recent trip to Cirque Lodge. But I don’t care what people think. I just don’t care. So I will neither confirm nor deny. I think now we just know way too much about our celebrities. It’s not that interesting when you know that much about people. I have no ego about me. It’s just better for you not to know, because it really does make me a better actor at the end of the day. You’re not going into the movie with all these specifics about me.”
