5 Stars Speak on Googling Themselves

It must be hard not to give in to temptation, and many of them do – these 5 celebrities have all spoken on googling their own name. Some know it’s better not to see the headlines about themselves but do it every now and then anyway when they feel the urge, others try desperately not to and others even enjoy it because they find reading the stuff about themselves hilarious. Here is what 5 stars have to say on hitting the search button with their own name keyed in. It may be a little narcissistic but these celebrities all give into google and do it eventually, for better or for worse – here is how they feel on the subject.

Anne Hathaway

Anne confesses that she has done it in the past but whenever she ends up googling her own name she feels embarrassed for doing it: “OK, I have a confession. I lied before when you asked if I Googled myself. I do. I [was] embarrassed by it because I know how terrible it is.”

Susan Sarandon

Susan doesn’t like to read about herself because although there can be positive things, the negative parts impact her too:”I wouldn’t even know how to Google myself. I don’t know how to touch a computer. I don’t want to know. Even stuff that’s really good shouldn’t get stuck in your head, because it’s not real. Usually the people that have time to go online and sit there and be negative are such losers. But, of course, you can’t understand that when you’re a kid.”

Robert Downey Jr.

Robert says he enjoys it because it can be hilarious: “Oh, I love all that s—-, personally. Sorry. I just love it. Because it’s a hoot. Some people overstate their support, like they know you. Other people are busy doing something else and just want to go on this chat site and say some despicable character assassination, which I honestly think they kind of nailed it. I do have that shortcoming. It’s really fun.”

Kate Winslet

Kate says it’s not good for your mental health to be obsessed with your google result: “You can’t go and Google yourself. You just can’t. It doesn’t feel good. Just step away from Google, absolutely. How can you ever choose things in your life that will please everyone? The same goes for reviews. I can do work I’m proud of, but then people don’t like it and it just ties you up in knots.”

Daniel Craig

Daniel tries his best not to google his own name but sometimes it’s hard to stay away from it: “I really try not to, I really, truly try. But then I can’t help myself. I mean, I could probably put a lock on the computer, but yeah, anyway, it’s a sickness. But that’s it. Except for maybe I’ll look up some porn occasionally. Hey, I’m only human.”
