These 5 celebrities may be constantly in the spotlight, but that doesn’t mean they enjoy the Hollywood party circuit. Some hate doing anything that involved other celebrities – premieres, events or parties of any kind. Some say celeb bashes are fake and prefer to hang out with their real friends at cool bars that aren’t filled with other famous people, while some simply don’t want to get dragged into a partying lifestyle because they’ve seen how it can have negative effects and don’t want any part of it.
Lady Gaga
Gaga gave the Hollywood lifestyle a go, but didn’t like it at all: “I had all these number one records, and I had sold all these albums, and it was sort of this turning point: Am I going to try and embrace Hollywood and assimilate to that culture? I put my toe in that water, and it was a Kegel-exercise (pelvic floor muscle exercises) vaginal reaction where I clenched and had to retract immediately. I ran furiously back to New York, to my old apartment, and I hung out with my friends, and I went to the same bars.”
Taylor Swift
Taylor has never been tempted by parties and doesn’t want to have that lifestyle: “I’ve never been fascinated by the party lifestyle. Penciling in a night to get wasted is not something I want to do. I don’t think I’d be a party girl (even if I were) in college. When I was in high school, I remember seeing girls crying in the bathroom every Monday about what they did at a party that weekend. I never wanted to be that girl crying in the bathroom.”
Penelope Cruz
Penelope avoids events as much as possible and doesn’t like the party side of Hollywood at all: “I never go to parties. I only ever go to my own premieres or premieres of friends that I particularly want to support. I don’t particularly like the party side of Hollywood. I’m much more focused on the work side of it, that’s what I’m paid for. My social life does not centre on the night, although I have to admit I would like the LA restaurants to stay open a bit later so I could keep up the Spanish custom of long dinners with friends.”
Peaches Geldof
Peaches doesn’t like how fake celeb parties are, and prefers to go to real bars with her friends: “Showbiz parties always feel so hollow and fake. I prefer real situations with my real friends. We go to a little dive bar in Dalston (an area in east London) run by Turkish men drinking White Lightning cider while they Skype their families back home. I love weird, out-of-context bars rather than swanky places.”
Keira Knightley
Keira says she isn’t much of a sociable person and doesn’t enjoy the partying aspect of her job: “I don’t like parties much – I’m not a very social being. And the whole celebrity aspect of this job is never what I aspired to. I don’t mind it when people recognise me in the street – though it’s a bit weird when they know me and I don’t know them.”
