5 Celebrities Who Don’t Like the Way the Public Perceives Them

Believing people have a one-sided view of them, these 5 celebrities don’t understand why the public perceive them in a certain way that isn’t necessarily true or the whole story. Commenting that people wish they would look past what they think they know and stop judging them so quickly, these stars just want the chance to show their full personalities, what they can really do and are asking to be taken a little more seriously.

Chris Brown

Chris thinks people have been too harsh on him: “I’m confused right now as far as the public perception [of me]. Like, I think with my fans, they still love me, they support me, definitely. You have those people who will support you. So it’s kinda like 50/50 for me. I got the people that will come out and support and then the people that don’t wanna see me do anything. They basically want me in jail.”

Kit Harington

Kit is tired of people only being interested in his looks and seeing him as a hunk: “There is always someone who wants to ask me about my hair and it just drives me insane. It’s hair, it’s just hair. I’m just amazed by it, it follows me everywhere. When people focus too much on people’s looks or appearance for a role, it can sometimes feel like that is all that’s being focused on. Sometimes you want to try and get away from that.”

Kristen Wiig

Kristen thinks people have perceived her to be a comedian and so don’t understand her in a dramatic role: “I’ve done a couple of things that have been dramatic and sometimes I get frustrated because…there was a scene I shot once where it was like, ‘Oh this woman is so sad that she’s doing this thing’ and when we screened it people laughed. I was really nervous about that with [‘Welcome to Me’] because I know that there’s some really dark moments and there’s some really funny moments and it’s kind of up to the audience to interpret them.”

Megan Fox

Megan thinks people have judged her based on looks and regularly speaks on how she is underestimated. She commented: “Most people assume that I’m not very smart or educated or earnest because I have this image that I’m sort of narcissistic, chasing attention, and wanting people to like me. It makes me laugh because I’ve done plenty of interviews and when you read the article from beginning to end you can see that I’m not your typical music video model.”

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie thinks people have made assumptions: “When you’re renowned for your physicality, people—not just men—tend to think you couldn’t possibly be smart or funny. I like to think I have a little bit of personality. But I can be shy and nervous to expose myself. This year, I want to be a little freer, not so confounded by what I’m going to say. Most people have lower expectations of me, which is sort of fantastic. Because then the only way to go is up, right?”
