5 Celebrities Who Don’t Believe in Marriage

While some stars are obsessed with walking down the aisle and end up doing so multiple times, there are a few celebrities who aren’t excited by the idea of marriage. Some had a bad experience or have already been married and just don’t feel like they want to wed again, while others believe its just not necessary to have a healthy relationship. A few of these celebs have said they don’t believe in marriage only to walk down the aisle a few years later – someone must have changed their mind!

Diane Kruger

After having a bad experience, Diane no longer wants to tie the knot: “I was married very young. Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don’t believe in marriage. I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There’s no paper that will make you stay. A guy friend of mine said, and it made a lot of sense, that people should get married at the end of the road, not the beginning. I’m a different person now than I was years ago.”

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey doesn’t think marriage is needed to have a romantic relationship: “People don’t have to get married anymore. We’re a generation that has progressed in many ways, from the ones before us. I think that the idea of romantic love is about marriage is over. Now all love is romantic love. Getting married is not a necessity, and staying with one person is not a necessity.”

Salma Hayek

A year before marrying husband Francois-Henri Pinault, Salma said she felt marriage wasn’t necessary: “I don’t have a need for marriage. You want to grow old with someone, you want to have a partner and to have children – we have all those things. Some people need the commitment. Maybe we’ll just make the party!”

Penelope Cruz

Before marrying Javier Bardem, Penelope said she doesn’t need to get married because for her, it’s all about family: “I would love to have children some day, but not for now. I don’t know if I believe in marriage. I believe in family, in love, in children. It depends on the situation but nowadays I am not sure what marriage is for.”

Mila Kunis

Mila says that she does believe in marriage, but it isn’t important to her: “Not to say that I don’t believe in it (marriage), but it’s just not something that’s important to me. But I will have children. I’m too selfish to have them now, but when I do, I don’t feel like I need to be married. I need to have a person in my life who will care for me and my children – nothing else.”
